Counting CALORIES or counting MACROS??.
First off lets break down Macronutrients.
There are 3 categories; Proteins, Carbohydrates(carbs), and Fats.
Calories are especially made up of macronutrients, So what is the difference?
Well, to make it clear when you count calories, your caloric intake is based on your Basic Metabolic Rate (BMR) which is determined by age height weight etc. And this is calculated as the ammount of calories you must eat per day to maintain your current WEIGHT.
So... why do we count the macros?
This is either health specific or goal specific in nature. Eating the right balance of macronutrients is essencial to meeting out Fitness/health goal because it will determine the kind of weight we put on, or take off.
For example gaining muscle and burning fat.
Hence the phrase;
"Abs are made in the kitchen"
