Hard to believe its nearly Christmas again. HMC held its annual Christmas function last Sunday at Joe's Garage (one of our sponsors) in Cambridge. Before lunch we had the 2025 prizegiving:-
Championship results: Female runner Jenny Brady, Male runner Michael Robinson, Female Walker Carol Downey, Male walker Dennis Jordan. This is our second year using an age-grade calculation. Member of the year is our Secretary Louise Treweek.
Pictured are our some of championship winners and runners up, and our member of the year. Sadly Jenny and Carol were unable to attend.

Today the annual Jago Cup Interclub relay was hosted by Te Awamutu Marathon Clinic. Due to the usual event site being booked we experienced a fun new course at Pirongia. Hamilton Marathon Clinic proudly came away with both the runner's and walker's trophies. Raewyn Easton from Te Awamutu Marathon Clinic received the Percy Lawn Trophy.
Thankyou to the Te Awamutu Marathon Clinic for hosting such a wonderful day!
Photos: collecting the trophies on behalf of their teams are Michael for the runners and Colleen for walkers.

We thought it was time for an update on the 2026 Blueberry Fun Run & Walk!
There have been some changes for the 2026 event - the first of which is a new date. To fit in with the requirements of our major sponsor (Blueberry Country) we will be moving from February to a DECEMBER date. We are aiming for early December. The actual date will be confirmed once we have talked to the running calendar people about what other events are on.
We have taken onboard the feedback from our last event. While we got lots of positive feedback, we agreed with those who said having the registration/prizegiving and the run/walk separated was not a good set-up. So we can now move to one location with Blueberry Country providing a large marquee on the course site. We will be able to have the coffee cart and Blueberry Country’s ice cream cart at the same location - so no missing out on the real fruit ice creams!
We are also looking at modifying the course as some of you have asked for a longer course. So as well as the popular 5km course we are investigating a 10km and 15km option.
Keep following us for further updates!

Long time member Carol celebrated her 250th Parkrun at Hamilton Lake last weekend. We’re sorry this is a little late, but we were waiting on photos. Here she is seen with some of our other members who were participating. Well done Carol!

We enjoy getting out with some of the other local clubs. Yesterday we had a pairs-relay at Lake Kanui (Lake D) with members of the Te Awamutu Marathon Clinic.
Organised by Keith, we did a warm up lap of the lake, then lined everyone up to form pairs. The fastest was paired with the slowest, the next fastest with the next slowest, and so on. Then each partner did a lap.
We followed the relay with a BBQ organised by Louise and cooked by Den and Phyll. A lovely day, some good exercise, and some good company!

A good day for HMC at the Cambridge Half yesterday. Louise picked up a second in the woman's half-marathon walk, while Ross and Wilf came second and third respectively in the men's 10km walk. Ross and Wilf were also happy to pick-up spot prizes!
