What an awesome weekend for our U14 boys at the Rotorua Development Tournament! 💙

The boys have come away with BRONZE, winning their 3rd/4th playoff to secure 3rd place overall!

Across the weekend, the boys finished with an impressive 4 wins and just 1 loss. More importantly, there was plenty of learning, developing and growth throughout the tournament, with the boys continuing to improve with every game.

A massive thank you to their coaching and management team, Jake and Ben Hutton, for all their time and effort supporting the boys throughout the weekend. 💙

And a special congratulations to Marcus Greville, who was selected in the Tournament Team! 🔥 An awesome individual achievement to top off a fantastic weekend for the team.

🤽🏼‍♀️ U14 ROTORUA DEVELOPMENT TOURNAMENT 🤽🏼‍♀️

What a weekend for our U14 girls! 💙

Since Friday, the girls have competed in six games, including a friendly against Tauranga. Across their five tournament games, they came away with 3 wins and 2 losses, finishing the weekend with a great win in the 5th/6th playoff to secure 5th place overall out of 12 teams!👏🏼

For some of our girls, this was their very first water polo tournament, which makes the weekend even more special! There was so much learning, developing and growing as a team throughout every game, and we are super stoked with how the girls played. Plenty to be proud of and lots to build on as we head into the rest of the season! 💪🏼

A big shoutout to our coaching and management crew — Blair, Emma and Kim — for all their work supporting the girls over the weekend. 💙

⭐️🚨 A HAWKE'S BAY FIRST! 🚨💛

A massive congratulations to Max Rietberg and Alex van der Pluijm on an incredible achievement!

Both boys have been selected in the New Zealand 17&U Men's Squad, with Max earning selection in the travelling team to compete at the 2026 Australian National State Water Polo Championships next month, while Alex has been named as a non-travelling reserve.

This marks a historic milestone for HBWP, as it is the first time in our club's history that players have been selected in a New Zealand National Team/Squad.

To reach this level is a testament to the countless hours of hard work, dedication, and commitment both Max and Alex have put into their water polo. We couldn't be prouder of what they have achieved and know this is just the beginning.

Congratulations, boys! The entire Hawke's Bay Water Polo community is behind you. 💙🤍
