IMPORTANT NOTICE - 2026 Central OPen & Camp

I am writing to share an update regarding our schedule for the upcoming season, namely the 2026 Central Open / Camp slated for late Sept in the Hawkes Bay.

After carefully evaluating our resources and commitments, we have made the difficult decision not to host this year and will revisit its viability in 2027

This was a tough choice, but it is necessary for a few key reasons that we are willing to share:

Commitment to Quality: Our priority is always to provide high-level, consistent coaching. This season, we are focusing our current coaching roster on internal development and maintaining the high standards you expect from us, rather than spreading our resources too thin across an additional event.

Investing in Our Future: We are dedicating this season to a major push for our junior programs and exploring new opportunities in the medium future. We want to ensure our energy is fully invested in these projects, as they will define the next chapter of our club’s growth.

Scheduling Overlap: We recognize that our proposed dates fall very close to the HVFC camp being hosted in Wellington in July. We want to ensure our community has the opportunity to attend those events without feeling stretched or needing to choose between them.

We sincerely appreciate your support in the past, and we are grateful for the community that has made our previous events so memorable.

I thought Id drop out a an update as to the start dates for 2026

2026 Term 1 Start Dates

* Jan 13 - Tuesday - Fitness & Bouting - All welcome
* Jan 15 - Thursday - No Fencing
* Jan 17 - Saturday - No Fencing
* Jan 20 - Tuesday - Fencing & 1-1 Lessons
* Jan 22 - Thursday - Musketeers, Advanced Epee, Fitness, Footwork, Fencing & 1-1 Lessons
* Jan 24 - Saturday - Musketeers, The Lunge Club, Advanced Sabre, Fencing & 1-1 Lessons
* Jan 27 onwards - Fencing as normal through term 1

The Lunge Club

After last years very successful parents have-a-go we are going to try a parents only session over term 1 called “The Lunge Club”, this will be run by myself and Ollie and will be appropriately focused. (I have a standing promise of no burpees for parents) :)

Lunge club will run from 8-9 AM every Saturday and all gear will be provided, We will order additional chest guards etc as needed. I beelive the plan is for parents then to head to the Stag and get a coffee?
