Hi All. Just a quick shout out from me on the eve of Nationals. I know I’ve been remiss this season - but OBK is always front of mind regardless of where I am. I do keep abreast from afar and to that end I just want to thank everyone who has been involved in keeping our great little club going this season. Finally: All the very best to every one of you who will be representing us at National Events over the coming month. I know you will wear our iconic cap with pride and leave nothing on the water. Hi All. This is a late SOS call to what Pat always referred to as our ‘latent talent community’. Unfortunately one of our Canoes - Couttsee - took a hammering at HB Champs and sustained extensive damage. We have managed to get the fibreglass work done and the canoe is watertight and the bulk heads and internal bracing appears to be intact. The problem is the front draw bar - hopefully the pictures depict the problem - but essentially it has been bent and the canoe is lopsided and does not sit in its cradle snugly. It will also not ride smoothly in the water and will not steer straight. Our fiberglass repair man does not have the tools or expertise to straighten it, so I am hoping someone with some engineering skills out there within our community can help. We leave for Nationals next Wednesday - appreciate it’s short notice - but we thought it was being fixed. If anyone can help please PM me.

🚫 Ahuriri - Heretaunga will move to a PROHIBITED fire season from 0800 Wednesday 4th December, until further notice.

🚫 A prohibited fire season means there is a total fire ban in place, you cannot light any fires and all permits are suspended.

Mohaka, Wairoa Inland, Tukituki East, Southern Hawkes Bay Coast and Porangahau will move to a RESTRICTED fire season.

Wairoa Coast, Esk Tutaekuri and Tukituki West will remain in a RESTRICTED fire season.

A restricted fire season means you must apply for a permit checkitsalright.nz

🍂 Keep your grass short, clean dead leaves and debris from gutters and decks.

🪵 Keep your driveway clear of trees and hedges for fire trucks. (at least 4m x 4m clearance)

📲 If you see smoke call 111, we want to extinguish fires early.
