Sometimes the biggest wins from training have nothing to do with what you see in the mirror.
For Marie, it’s feeling less sluggish, having a clearer head, being more active… and, in her words, maybe even being a little nicer to the kids 😂
That’s the stuff we love hearing.
Because training isn’t just about getting fitter or stronger. It’s about having more energy for your life outside the gym too.
And when movement becomes part of your normal routine, it starts becoming normal for the whole family. 🫶🏽

These aren’t steaks from pak n save…
this is what 40 years without strength training could do to your muscle.
Most people think strength training is about looking better.
Bigger arms.
Stronger legs.
A firmer bum.
But that’s the least important part.
Muscle is what allows you to get off the floor without assistance.
Carry your groceries.
Lift your kids and one day, your grandkids.
Climb stairs.
Catch yourself when you trip.
Protect your joints.
Remain capable, useful and independent.
As we age, some muscle loss is normal, but inactivity accelerates it.
When your body repeatedly receives the message,
“I don’t need to lift, push, pull or carry anything heavy,” it adapts accordingly.
You lose muscle.
You lose strength.
You lose power.
And eventually, everyday tasks start feeling harder than they should.
Strength training sends the opposite message:
“I still need this muscle.”
“I still need this strength.”
“I’m not finished using this body.”
You don’t need to become a bodybuilder.
You definitely don’t need to destroy yourself six days a week.
You need to train the major movement patterns—squat, hinge, push, pull and carry consistently, and ideally at least twice a week.
Because strength training isn’t simply preparation for your next workout.
It’s preparation for the final decades of your life.
The goal isn’t just to live until you’re 70, 80 or 90.
The goal is to arrive there with enough strength to keep living on your terms.
So Send this to someone you want beside you and still strong 40 years from now.
Hawke’s Bay owns it now… 🔥
ORA Fit Fest is an inclusive and welcoming community health and fitness festival, held twice a year at the Tōmoana Showgrounds in Hastings.
What started as something special for our ORA members, something to train for and look forward to, has grown into one of Hawke’s Bay’s biggest community fitness events.
We’re back on 21–22 November, with more athletes and even bigger crowds expected to surpass our previous events.
There’s still time. But only just.
Grab a mate, secure your tickets and come watch our community race together.
This is one weekend you don’t want to miss. Tickets in bio
POV: You didn’t feel like training… but you showed up anyway. 💪
