A bit of high quality plyometric work before high intensity strength work can be a winner.
The science says
It can help to increase neural drive and help recruit high threshold motor units, while exposing you to rapid force production before you move into slower, heavier strength work.
That basically just means it can get you more up for it, and then you’ll be more effective and efficient.
It works under the PAPE (post-activation performance enhancement) principle -using a powerful movement to potentially enhance subsequent strength or power performance.
Low volume. High intensity.
Couple of bounces and then squats 👍
First things first.
If you haven’t already, see the guys at Jono Devine and get it checked out. Know what you’re dealing with.
Then we rehab 👇
1️⃣ Isometric holds
Great starting point to load the tendon, build tolerance and can often help settle discomfort.
2️⃣ Slow, controlled strength work
Box step ups, split squats, lunges.
Progressively heavier loading.
Low and slow -build capacity before intensity.
3️⃣ Progress back to full strength training
Be patient, progressively load it, and you’ll be back to full training, movement and function in no time.
