Golf report.
The mens club championships were played on Sunday with strong winds and wintery showers throughout the day. Ian Cooper retained the Senior banner with a comfortable win over Jason Whyte thanks to exceptional back nine in the morning round. Aaron Tauwhare also retained the intermediate crown win a win over Don Hibbs and Shane Hall became the Junior Championship for the first time with a strong finish over John Bourgeios.
Thanks to the players for fronting up in tough conditions and to the course convenor and green keeper for preparing the course after some rough weather in the days preceding.
Saturdays Stableford was boosted by a group from Greymouth and Gary Beckett went home with the main prize. Ian Cooper was in second place with twos by Andy Green, Shane Hall and Cooper. Saturdays have proved popular with the Thomsons Meat Market voucher a great prize.

It’s the Buller Westland stoke play championships in Westport this weekend with the matches in Hokitika being Medal on Saturday and a Bisque Bogey on Sunday.
