That’s a wrap!

Thank you to everyone that came along to our Waikouaiti Trotting Club races at Oamaru

We jam packed as many activities into the day amongst the strong racing including:

- Kids scavenger hunt, where everyone got a lucky dip
- Ladies and Children’s Fashion in the Field
- Lolly scramble with Hopples the Horse, being towed around in a sulky by his jockey
- Adults & kids sulky race - fun had by all!
- Members draw
- Mobile barrier rides
- Bouncy castle, Mr Whippy, Mini jeeps
- Kids Kartz Canterbury vs. Southland

We had a record number of horses racing, 12 races with 15 horses in most fields, which made for great racing and a record turnover.

🥇Racey Krusa 🥇posted his fourth win on end from six starts since joining the stable of Waikouaiti beach trainer Amber Hoffman. Driven by Wilson House the 9yr-old led over the last 1600m of 2000m and won by three lengths.

🥇Classie Linc 🥇recorded her 15th win and eighth on grass in the Marshall Transport – Hawksbury Motors Ltd Mobile Pace (Race 11).
The Bruce Negus -trained Classie Linc was driven by Sheree Tomlinson.

🥇The Big Lebowski 🥇overcame a 40m handicap to win the Cutlers Real Estate Waikouaiti Pacers Cup (3000m) Race 10.
Driver Blair Orange sent the 9yr-old to the front at the 1400m and he was two and three quarter lengths clear at the finish.
The Big Lebowski, trained by Brett Gray for Merv and Meg Butterworth, of Melbourne, won the Riverton Cup at his previous start 7 days ago and has now won 10 of his 48 starts.
He joined the Gray stable late last year.
His performance today was in keeping with that of Franco Legend, who the Waikouaiti Cup from a 50m handicap in 2014 when the race was at Waikouaiti. First Glimpse won from 40m 1991.

Driver Blair Orange extricated 🥇Sheza Trendy One🥇 from four back on the inner to win the Custom Fencing Trot (Race 9).
It was the third win for the 7yr-old mare trained by Noel Taylor at Kohika (South Canterbury).

🥇Tuneinsportsfans 🥇(Carter Dalgety) left stride in the score up to the G K Fyfe and G Cayford Junior drivers Mobile Pace (Race 8) but recovered to lead at the 1200m and held on to win by half a length.
It was the fourth win for Tuneinsportsfans trained by Lyndon Bond who races him with the Cleland Racing syndicate.

Jeremy Markham had his first win since joining Carl Markham in a training partnership when 🥇My Skatjie 🥇scored a decisive win in the McLellan Freight Ltd /Omalass Dried Molasses Handicap Pace (Race 7).

Kerryn Tomlinson registered the first win of the new season for team teal supporting ovarian cancer awareness when she partnered 🥇Don’t Look Kobe 🥇in the Skevingtons/SBT Marketing Trot (Race 6).
The 4yr-old gelding is trained near Oamaru by Brad Williamson.

Gavin Smith made good use of the passing lane to guide
🥇Breeny’s Conqueror 🥇to victory in the Custom Contracting Mobile Pace (Race 5).
Breeny’s Conqueror, trained by Simon Adlam , came thought to win by half a length.
