🔥 6AM. Spring mornings. And a FULL HOUSE.

Huge shout-out to this bunch of legends who keep showing up, putting in the mahi and bringing the energy to our Thursday 6am HIIT class. 💪

And a big shout-out to Charles for another awesome session and for keeping everyone moving (and possibly questioning their life choices before breakfast 😂).

If you’ve been thinking about giving one of our classes a go, here’s your reminder: group fitness classes are included in your Y membership — along with 24/7 gym access, sauna and plenty more.

Come for the workout. Stay for the people. 💙

An EVOLT body scan provides an in-depth understanding of your body, measuring 40 different aspects, including muscle mass, visceral fat, biological age, hydration levels, and more.

So you’re working from real numbers instead of the mirror or the scales.

Whether you’re just starting out, training for something specific, or simply curious.

Members get one scan for $35 (three for $90), and non-members pay $40 (or three for $105).

Keen to give it a go? The team will get you booked in, 03 218 2989 or [email protected].

Our winner from the Move Through Winter Challenge is Lisa Terepai!

Lisa has been part of The Y since October 2022, but over the last three months she’s been coming to the gym every day, often twice a day, participating in classes, doing her workout, or walking on the Stairmaster while reading her study notes.

⚡️What motivated you to keep showing up throughout the winter, even on the days when you didn’t feel like it?

“Honestly… I just stopped waiting to feel motivated. I knew I always felt better after I’d been, so I made it part of my routine. Some days keen, some days definitely not, but once you’re there, you’re there!”

💪You ended up coming in almost every day, often twice a day and combining classes with your own workouts. What difference did that consistency make for you?

“The biggest thing was how much it’s become a normal part of my day. I didn’t have to think about it, I just went. I’ve definitely noticed a difference in my fitness, strength, and mental health. It’s kinda become like my happy place.”

💭What would you say to someone who struggles to stay motivated and wants to make exercise a regular part of their life?

“Don’t overthink it and don’t wait for motivation to magically appear! Just get yourself there and start. You don’t have to smash every workout, just showing up is a win!”

150 years. 150 stories. We want to hear yours.

Today, The Y Southland is officially launching the hunt for 150 stories spanning our 150 years in the community. Read about it here.

The Y Southland wants 150 stories to mark 150 years — and it's asking Southlanders to help find them. The organisation, formerly the Invercargill YMCA, has launched a campaign called 150 Faces of The Y, calling on the community to nominate people who have shaped the not-for-profit since it was for...
