A slightly late update to our socials.....
The NZ Masters Champs 2026 is done and dusted. What an amazing result for Cure BC Masters! Our crew was small but mighty - Carmen Lammerding, Catherine Kappelle, Kelly LaValley, Niklas Reisser, Mulle Arndt and Sophia Bidwell - numbering only 6.
We entered 24 of 125 events (including composites) offered and medaled in 14 of these - 8🥇, 3🥈, and 3🥉.
Conditions at Lake Karapiro were windy and a little choppy - perfect for our crew, who train on the river in all weathers.
We had a few exciting finishes, with strong rowing from the North Island crews who made up the majority of our competitors.
As always, a highlight was meeting our fellow masters rowers, and making connections with other clubs, especially for those of us newer to Cure and masters rowing in general.

💜 Close to $30,000 raised. 💜

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our sponsors, donors, guests, bidders, volunteers and wider community, our recent CURE fundraising dinner & auction has raised close to $30,000 towards the completion of our riverside boathouse.

There is still more to raise, but this means we can get started — creating a better clubhouse for our rowers and a facility that can also be enjoyed by the broader community for years to come.

A huge thank you to everyone who played a part, including our amazing young volunteers on the night, the rowers who feature in this video, and Moleta for bringing it all together.

We couldn’t have done it without you.

A final thank you to everyone who made our live auction such a success. 💜

A special mention to the Peter Reidie with his Whenua Lodge getaway and Rob Waddell’s exclusive speaking engagement — together they made an enormous contribution to our fundraising result - a third of our funds raised!

We are also hugely grateful to Ben & Kate Baldwin, Christchurch Helicopters and Jared & Jasmine Hazeldine, Tony O’Connor and Christ's College, Mark & Janet Apperley, Home Straight Wines, Greystone, Kidsbase, Mahé & Juliette Drysdale, Cameo Fine Arts, Sally & Scott Berry, Mark Reidie & John Reidie for their Emirates Team New Zealand Lego and Brick Fans for their generous live auction contributions.

And a big thank you to Cam Bray, who stepped in as auctioneer at short notice, when Mark Woods was called away with Bird Flu work, and to everyone who put their hand up and bid.

Every bid helped get us closer to finishing our riverside boathouse. 💜

A huge thank you to the Kate Valley Landfill Community Trust for their generous support of CURE, funding a new set of sculling oars. 💜

For CURE, these oars are about much more than new equipment. Sculling is often where our younger rowers first experience the sport, and having good-quality, reliable gear helps make that first experience a positive one — building confidence, skills and encouraging them to stay involved. The new oars will also be used right across the club, from our juniors and learn to row programmes through to our senior and masters rowers.

The Kate Valley Landfill Community Trust invests back into its local community, supporting charitable, educational and community initiatives — and we’re incredibly grateful to be one of the organisations to benefit. To learn more about Kate Valley’s environmental and conservation work, including the restoration of Tiromoana Bush, visit the Transwaste Canterbury website. ♻️ https://transwastecanterbury.co.nz/conservation/

Thank you for helping more North Canterbury people get on the water and enjoy rowing.

💜 A huge thank you to our Silent Auction donors! 💜

So many fantastic prizes were generously donated, helping make our silent auction such a success.

The Premium Canterbury Half Lamb Boxes and KATS Tyres $500 voucher were among the most hotly contested, while some of the biggest smiles of the night belonged to the winners of the Pie Passport from Woodend Bakery & The Village Bakehouse 🥧 and the PUMA Netball Pack 🏐.

Thank you to every business and individual who supported CURE — your generosity helped us raise close to $30,000. 💜🚣

💜 A HUGE THANK YOU TO OUR RAFFLE DONORS 💜

Our raffle prizes were a huge hit on the night — 6 lucky people won some great prizes and they were only possible thanks to the incredible generosity of our local businesses, friends and families who donated prizes and vouchers.

We are incredibly grateful to every business and individual who got behind us. Please support the wonderful local businesses who support our club. 💜

Thank you — we couldn’t have done it without you.
