WHoW Aquasports park is a merger of three exciting components a Surf Park, Whitewater Park, and a Cab Wai Huka – Why Not

For years it has felt for many of us as though we have been trapped in the roundabout of earthquake response and have almost forgotten what it’s like to be a city that can focus on fun. Those of us behind WHoW are hitting the “go button” on what we hope will set a precedent encouraging fun places for a new liveable city. WHoW is a merger of a number of ideas that have been bouncing around for a fe

Was great to have all our trustees onsite today with a beautiful karakia blessing from mana whenua for our works ahead before we hit the water with Aqualand to start building the water park.
The support and the partnership is proving to be amazing!!

WHoW is super excited that all our hard work and the hard work of those that support us is finally paying off .. so thank you very much.

It most certainly has been a long hikoi, but one that we knew was worth making. Partnering with Kaikanui Aqualand NZ has been a strategic and worthwhile move with our 1st transitional aquatic project approved, consents obtained and equipment landed in the country!!

We are getting all ready to go so you can come down and have some fun this summer!! Aqualand NZ has just opened Early Bird ticket sales so jump online to www.aqualand.co.nz and support our first project off the block.

Keep an eye on Aqualand’s page for opening dates and more news…….you just never know we might need some of you locals to come and help us with the testing (playing) of the park before we open!!!

Our recent Market Research deep dive matches that of SurfingNZ .. yes we'll go out all year .. just maybe not as often .. (unless the waves were guaranteed, there were hot-pools on the beach and Burgers & Craft beer available) .. we'll be sharing the exciting results soon!

Weekly Dose Of Data
This week we looked at whether Kiwi surfers prefer summer or winter surfing.

Results from our National Surfing Survey tell us that
Around 22% of participants surf weekly during the summer. This is almost exactly the same as our winter poll, however when it comes to frequency only 8% of respondents surf four to five times a week in the winter compared to 20% during the summer.

Conclusion? It would seem that most of our surfers aren’t too keen on the cold & just go for a paddle once a week in the winter to keep the fitness up!

Do you surf all year round or are the ice cream headaches just not worth it?
