I am enjoying seeing all the photos of new lambs popping up all over my FB feed, such a wonderful time of the year and one, we breeders, plan for and eagerly await.
My girls are not due to start lambing until next month. Their tummies are getting nice and round π. I didn't get them scanned this year so it's going to be all surprises here! π«£π.
At least the hard frosts will be behind us and the grass will be growing again.
Next year I'll ask the girls to work toward a more condensed lambing period. Not looking forward to month of night checks π³ π΄π«©
Pray for me! π
πGood luck to my fellow breeders, may the lambing season gods watch over us and may we be blessed with more ewe lambs than rams π€£ π©·π

Wee trip to Mamaku, Rotorua to round up most of my girls today (Binky's off gallivanting with Axel around the corner).
These girls have been living it up, having 'fun time' with wee Gordie the ram at Glen McGregor Valais and Royal Pines.
Thanks Cole McGregor for babysitting the girls. Now we wait for the pitter patter of little hooves come spring. πΊπ»πΌπ·πͺ»π΅πΉβοΈ

π Beautiful sunny day in the Eastern Bay of Plenty today. π
Finally managed to get my pet wethers, Kenny, Otis and Edmund shorn, thank you A shearer for doing a lovely job.
Much to the boys disgust, they got accosted twice in one day - I also trimmed their feet. Nice to get these jobs done as we head into winter.
The big boys are babysitting Beth, Sadie and Rosemary while the older ewes are away having 'fun time' with the ram.
Kenny made a new friend called 'Woolpile'. π

Off we went to Farming Like Grandad today to share some VBN love π₯°.
Beth, Rosemary and Sadie were super stars and took everything in their stride. It was the first trip away from home!
Lots of kids handfed and touched a sheep for the first time today. It was lovely to be help make special memories for them.
No entry fee for kids and adults only $10. A wonderful affordable outting for families when times are tough. We had some rain but mainly fine. The covered yards were great!
Gumboots, raincoats and brollys were out in full force.
Thanks to the organisers especially Karen & Martin Gow. Legends!

Busy morning here. Lambs in for shearing, ewes crutched. One had a touch of fly strike, a reminder to stay vigilant. The conditions have been perfect - damp, humid, very warm.
Thank you to Russell Brown - 'A Shearer' who does a great job navigating horns, wriggly lambs as well as big mummas π. He covers the BOP area, highly recommend.
