The results are in. The Kawhia Skytower Team 2025 managed to raise a totsl of $7.220.00 and thereby ensuring 4x preferential place for the Skytower Challenge 2026. Well done team, proud of what we did. Special thanks to all that donated, bought a sausage or two, just donated to the cause to get is where we got to. A special big thanks to the Otorohanga Lions Club for donating the final $3,600.00 to endure or preferred places in 2026. Great effort all.

In total, the NZ Firefighters Skytower Challenge 2025 managed to raise a massive $1,964,729.00, just short of 2 million for a great cause. Well done all who fundraised for this great cause. See you all again in 2026.

Tomorrow firefighters from across Aotearoa are climbing the Sky Tower to raise money for Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand who support Kiwis living with blood cancer.

51 flights of stairs, 1103 steps, AND wearing 25kg of firefighting gear!

Ka pai on all the fundraising efforts so far and good luck to everyone climbing, you got this!

Last Monday night, the kawhia skytower team had a skytower training session around kawhia and hopefully nobody was worried or curious as to why we were walking around in our level 2’s with cylinders on our backs, it was just a rehearsal for skytower. Week and a half now till the big event and personally, I am proud of our team and very thankful for the support that Kawhia has shown the team in conquering our challenge. Watene and Mo are now very close in getting their target of $1,700 which will give them preferential entry next year so once again, Kawhia will be there in 2026. Go team.

Today your efforts helped Watene get closer to his target of raising enough to get a preferential placing to run again next year. 1 in 8 suffer from leukeamia so it’s a great cause.
