Over the weekend Coach Andy & Caleb from Denjo Judo attended the Ju no Kata Seminar & Competition hosted by the Auckland Judo Association.

Caleb (Tori) × Andy (Uke) successfully presented their Ju no Kata to earn their Judging Qualifications and placed 5th in the competition.

Coach Andy also partnered with Dana from City Judo Whanganui to take both the 3rd Place (Tori) and 1st Place (Uke) Awards.

We are all very pleased with the results and have learnt a new appreciation for the gentle way.

As we finish of Term 2, our Denjo Judo Team would like to make a special shout to our international students from Europe.

To Serafina, Alisha, and Lina:

You spent a whole year with us here in Kerikeri and have become such an integral part of our Judo family. The energy and pure joy you brought to every session was absolutely infectious. Every person in our dojo was made better by your presence.

We wish you all a safe journey home as you head off to your respective countries. We will forever treasure the friendship and memories made these past several months and look forward to the day when we all step onto the tatami together once again.

This is not a goodbye, but a see you again soon.

Kia kaha.

A big thanks to Foundation North for sponsoring our new crash mat!
A crashmat is a great tool for building confidence and practicing difficult throws with safety,
(and our Denjo Juniors just love it !)
