You might be surprised to know that many of our competitors come to Merrell Race Tekapo just for the day.

One of the best things about the 21km, 12km and 5km events is that they can easily be done as a day trip. Make the drive to Lake Tekapo, enjoy an unforgettable day on the trails, celebrate with a soak in the hot pools and something to eat, then make your way home.

No overnight stay? No problem!! See you there 🙌

Lake Tekapo is part of the Aoraki Mackenzie Dark Sky Reserve, NZ's largest reserve. There are so many options for you to see the stars while you are in the region for the event - you can even soak in the hot pools at Tekapo Springs & Star Gazing and have a guided star gazing experience!
