Lake Tekapo Regional Park

The Lake Tekapo Regional Park is made up of 165 hectares of coniferous forest situated along Lake Tekapo in the Mackenzie District.

It is bordered by several major high country stations and boasts well developed walking and mountain biking tracks Explore 165 hectares of land along the eastern shores of stunning Lake Tekapo where you'll find picnic spots, an enclosed dog park and 24 kilometres of cycling and walking tracks.

A second and final notice… The 2025 AGM of the Lake Tekapo Recreational Park society (also known as Friends of Lake Tekapo Regional Park) will be convened at 7.00pm on Wednesday, 12 November 2025 in the library of the Lake Tekapo School.

All members of the Lake Tekapo community are invited to attend.

This is also a call for new members. You can become a member of the society by attending the AGM or sending your name and email address to [email protected].

Regional Park- Safety Notice
The society is currently carrying out tree work along lilybank Rd from the entrance to NZMCA site to the Homestead Carpark entrance. This work will improve the road condition with less shading and provide an opportunity for more appropriate planting and tracks.
Please take care along the road and do not stop on the side of the road.
Take care using the entrances and obey any instructions from contractors
