Levin Bmx Club

Hi everyone,

Today, a group of individuals representing the sport of BMX-ing locally, met with Horowhenua District Council Property and Parks Project Lead Mr. Stephen Titze. The meeting was convened to discuss the local BMX track and an organisational re-establishment, and how this could take effect.

From the meeting following points were raised and discussed:


Q1: Can we still use the track and for how long?

A1:
The Track is safe at this stage, or at least comfortably for the next 1-2years as the actual commencement of the Donnelly Park re-development work is still undecided, despite the Plan being more or less finalised.


Q2: What can we do to save the Track and Club?

A2:
At this stage we have been almost ordered as part of a pre-requisite of council to develop a sustainable organisation business plan.


Q3: What’s the next stage?

A3:
The next stage for us all is to set up and hold a series of public meetings to engage with the public to (1) Initiate a Steering Committee to lead the Plan development (2) To gauge the direction and future of the sport and organisation.


Q4: When will we hold these meetings?

A4: Soon as we possibly can.

🚳No club No track🚳

There’s a few of us working behind the senses try to work out what’s involved with starting our local BMX club up again. There’s been quite a bit of interest from people already.

BMX NZ would love to see the club up and running again.

Horowhenua council have a draft plan for Donnally Park current this doesn’t include the BMX track as there isn’t a club. It would be a shame to see the track removed my son along with many other love riding around the track.

We need to form a committee the following roles need to be filled.

President
Vice President
Secretary
Track maintenance coordinator
Membership coordinator
A long with committee members.

I’m sure theres plenty of stuff I’ve missed from this post but let’s get the club started. We’ll hold a meeting sometime in the next couple of weeks. If your interested in help running the club please let us no.
