🏉 WHAT A WAY TO WRAP UP OUR FIXTURE SEASON! 💙
Well, if that’s how you finish a fixture season, we’ll take it!
A record 19 Coodas were out on the paddock yesterday — an absolutely brilliant sight. New faces, familiar faces, a few we hadn’t seen for a while, plus three fishermen from San Enterprise, currently in dry dock, who came along with a fantastic support crew and threw themselves straight into Coodas rugby.
Our opposition, Golden Koru, did eventually make it onto the field… once they located some shorts. 😂 A wrong kit bag bought us an extra half-hour of warm-up, which gave everyone plenty of time to admire the fact that amongst our 19 players we somehow had a Rabbit, a Pink Fairy and, naturally, a carrot. 🐰🧚🥕 Because why not?
And another awesome hat creation from our wonderful Mrs Knits made an appearance too — she continues to keep the Coodas very well dressed! 🧶💙
And then the rugby kicked off — and what a game!
Honestly, it was probably the best game of rugby we’ve watched all year. Both teams seemed to step it up a notch, there was some fantastic rugby played, some great tackles and plenty of laughs — exactly what Golden Oldies rugby should be.
A huge shout-out to Golden Koru for being such a brilliant team to finish our fixture season with. Their players were fantastic, their supporters brought a great vibe from the sideline, and the whole game was played in such a fun spirit. Thanks Golden Koru — you helped make it a cracker of a day. 🏉👏
The undisputed tackle of the day, however, has to go to Rabbit Waz, who absolutely cleaned up Pink Fairy Zion — and even better, the whole thing was caught on video. 😂 We hope Fairy is feeling okay today…

Then it was back to the Lyttelton Arms for prizegiving, a great wee speech and shout-out from Quinny and Waz, plenty of laughs and the perfect way to finish the day.
A special thanks to Gibby for the food. It was Gibby’s last day, so it was especially nice to finish our fixture season there and have the chance to say goodbye and thank him for looking after us. ❤️
