Lads go out for a quick roar trip before the lockdown. At least one on the board for the Roar

Sorry the lads haven’t posted in a while it’s been a crazy few months! As you can see the lads are back at it and s**t are we excited, with duck shooting just around the corner and the roar about to kick off we have been heads down ass up in some game planning. Unfortunately with the dry conditions the water levels in the dam are not quite where we would like them but that’s just the way the cookie crumbles. After last years shocking start on opening morning the lads have been getting stuck into making sure we can have a rip snorter of an opening this year. With the feed on the dam and great plans to extend the maimai it’s definitely looking promising. The lads have also been busy planning a trip down south again with the hopes of another naughty week(with the queen and the pawn). There is also some designs being hunted at the moment for some potential gears to be released within the next month so stay tuned as we kick off in to what is going to be one hell of a year!!WATCH THIS SPACE!!!

The lads hit the road early this morning to make their way down to spot x. With a quick stop on the way, the lads carried on out to where they were promised was the best spot in the wairarapa. On arrival the lads came across a few of the local rifraf and bloke by the name of scuba! Now Kev well he was a bit out the gate and tu meke Toby well where do we begin. After rock bashing the courier around to the watering hole we all suited up and heading in to search for some kiwi gold. Old scuba Scotty was talking a big game but after getting the run about from a cray, he dropped his lip got his limit on paua and left the boys hanging in the water. Kina Kev thought he was on spiky gold hunters as he left the water with a sack full of Kina and tu meke was never really in the race as he put his wetsuit on backwards and was out of the water in half an hour! The lads had a good soak today with Matt coming out with his limit of paua a handful of Kina and also managed to bag a reef fish with his Hawaiian sling. Mark came away from the day with his limit on paua a handful Kina and 5 crays. A big thanks must go out to Kina Kev for being an out of it lad, scuba Scotty for suppling some quality laughs and tu meke Toby for allowing us access to your spot x and supplying us with your collection of “absolute hissers” a solid 6.5 out 10. Until next time the lads 👍🏻 Scott Wilkinson Matthew McDougall Mark Baxter

So yesterday was the lads turn to look after Quinn Baxter, but the ocean was calling our name and was to good to resist! After a quick stop off at nana t’s to deliver the precious cargo the lads raced out to bless themselves in the clear calm waters. Blessed they were with many a cray and paua on selection. The Dannevirke Rural Chess Club is all about preserving our fisheries so without being greedy we took our limit of paua and a couple of crays and set off to pick a very well behaved Quinn. All in all another great day for the boys and Quinn. Who knew Mark could look after his daughter and dive at the same time 😉😂. Quinn you’re more than welcome to come diving again anytime!! Stay tuned more to come....... Mark Baxter Tracie Baxter

Last night the lads missions it down to masterton in support of fellow chess player Matt in the Dairy industry awards. Think it’s fair to say Matt cleaned up taking home 4 out of the 5 Merit awards and the big prize of Dairy Trainee of the year! There were a fair share of beers drunk in celebration as well as a sniff of port.
Now we wait to see if he can follow it up on May 11 at the national awards.
