Mana Tangata o Aotearoa Roller Derby We are Mana Tangata o Aotearoa - Team Indigenous Aotearoa. Huu huu haaa!

We use roller derby as our vessel to empower indigenous peoples to rise up and be active and to provide a platform for Māori and indigenous representation in our sport.

Mana Tangata o Aotearoa is a collective of indigenous skaters from across Aotearoa, brought together through our whakapapa and our love of Reti Rapa (roller derby).

Through regular wānanga and staying at marae around the country, we learn te reo Māori and tikanga, then we gear up and hit the track!

Have you seen us playing “Tī Rākau”❤️🤍🖤

You might spot us playing this traditional Māori kemu on the side of the track before games. It’s more than just fun - we use Tī Rākau as a team-building activity to strengthen our hand-eye coordination, warm up our tinana (bodies), and get our reo (voices) ready!

It’s a great way to connect, have a laugh, and get the whole team warmed up. 💪🏽✨

The manaakitanga, whanaungatanga and pure fun throughout this scrimmage was next level 🔥
