It is with regret the Murchison A&P Show Equestrian Section did not receive the email regarding the NZTR RAS TB Show Horse Series sent out in recent weeks. This was solely due to the resignation of the show's secretary ahead of the AGM and the email getting missed.
Upon finding out about the 2026/27 series when it was announced last week I contacted RAS requesting for Murchison A&P Show to be included in the series as it has previously.
Unfortunately this isn't possible as the directive has come from NZTR and they only want 30 shows in the series. However RAS did say that Murchison A&P Show could still run a TB class but it wont count towards the series, nor would it have the offical NZTR sashes.
We know it is disappointing for competitors that Murchison isn't part of the 2026/27 series but this is out of my hands. I emailed trying my best to be included but it just isn't possible.
However with that encouragement from RAS suggesting we still run a breed class, Murchison A&P Show is proud to announce the following event for thoroughbred horses that has been made possible by the essential sponsorship from Bayleys Nelson Tasman Dan Mitchell.
'The Thoroughbred Event' (Non RAS class)
•The results from this class will NOT count towards the NZTR Show Horse Series
•No height certificates required

3rd: $50 & sash
4th: $25 & sash
5th: rosette
6th: rosette

•Entry Fee: Members $8 - Non Members $9
•Competitors will be required to work on the circle at walk, trot and canter. Perform a gallop (individually). Horses will be unsaddled for inspection.
•Judged on conformation/soundness/paces.
