Huge congrats to everyone who made this milestone happen — can't wait to get more riders out there enjoying it, it's such a cool loop!
The Puketapu Loop is officially back!
The New Zealand Cycle Trails Board recently visited Hawke's Bay, where they had the pleasure of riding the newly reopened Puketapu Loop - Hawke's Bay Trails Great Ride on bikes from Napier City Bike Hire & Tours, hosted by Trail Manager Vicki Butterworth
Following extensive damage caused by Cyclone Gabrielle, the loop has been fully restored and is once again connected, welcoming riders back to enjoy this spectacular section of the trail.
Reopening this section is a significant milestone and a testament to the incredible collaboration between local communities, mana whenua, councils, trail partners, government agencies and contractors. Made possible with the funding from the Extreme Weather Event Fund from MBIE.
The Hawke's Bay Trails are one of New Zealand's most popular Great Rides, and the return of the full Puketapu Loop means even more opportunities to explore this spectacular region by bike.
A huge congratulations to everyone who played a part in making this happen. We look forward to hearing how riders are enjoying the reopened loop.

Calling our Aussie friends 🇦🇺🍷
Visiting Hawke’s Bay between March and June this year? We have some cool news for wine-loving travellers. Many cellar doors are offering FREE shipping of up to a case (15 btls) back to Australia, for a limited time.
This means you can taste your way around the Bay, fall in love with a few favourites, and send a whole case home without the usual extra cost. It’s a real game-changer.
Plus a nice positive for the cellar doors who make the effort to stay open over Autumn/Winter and share the Hawke's Bay wine experience for visitors.
If you’ve been thinking about a wine adventure, this is your sign.

Seaweek’s a good reminder to get out and see the Seawalls murals along our waterfront.
They’re bold pieces with a clear message about protecting our oceans and waterways — something we’re lucky to have right here on our doorstep. The best way to take them in? 🚴, naturally.
It’s an easy, flat ride with sea views the whole way, and you can stop whenever something catches your eye. A simple way to celebrate Seaweek: get out there, enjoy the moana, and do your bit to look after it.
If you’re keen to explore, we’ll sort the bikes and point you in the right direction. Book here 👉 https://www.bikehirenapier.co.nz/
