YOUTH WORKSHOP – TOMORROW! 🚲
A reminder that our youth workshop is happening tomorrow, and we'd love to see our young racers there!
Nelson has well over 100 youth riders who get out and race regularly, so this is a great chance to mix and mingle with some of our local riders who have spent time racing on the international scene, ask questions and pick up a few ideas that might help with your own race journey.
Who: Teens who are currently racing, but all club members who are interested are welcome.
When: Tomorrow, 1pm - 3pm
Where: Maitai Golf Clubrooms
Bring your questions, come along for a relaxed afternoon and meet some of the riders who have been there and done it.
And bring your bikes – we'll head out for a mass party-train lap of Mr Chomper afterwards! 🚲
We'd love to see you there!

We have a new club Sponsor!!
HD Geo HD Geo News live is a geotechnical, engineering geology and contaminated land consultancy.
They help clients understand ground and environmental risk, then turn that understanding into practical, buildable solutions for complex sites, from early feasibility through to construction and certification.
Advanced drones and digital tools let us reach terrain that's hard to access on foot, capture accurate site data, and give clients a clearer picture of ground conditions and risk. We work across infrastructure, land development, energy and residential projects, delivering advice that reduces risk, improves constructability and supports safe outcomes for people, assets and the environment.
Clients know us for straightforward advice, sound technical judgement and solutions that hold up on site, not just on paper.
Find out more on our website: https://www.hdgeo.co.nz/
As an NMTB sponsor, HD Geo offers all members and fellow sponsors 10% off our services.

Waitarake Access Update
The Nelson Mountain Bike Club, Nelson City Council and Tasman Pine Forests Ltd (TPFL) have been working together for years to improve recreational access to Waitarake (Sharlands) during forestry operations.
Earlier this year, we successfully opened the Waitarake Access Trail, providing a safe way to access Kaka Road from Maitai Valley Road without needing to use Sharlands Road.
This access is now at jeopardy.
We’ve been made aware that members of the public are currently ignoring signage and fencing and continuing to access closed areas within Waitarake — including areas where TPFL are actively logging.
🚫 Sharlands Road is CLOSED 24/7. There is absolutely no access, this also means access to Central Road (off Sharlands) is closed.
These continued breaches put the access we have worked so hard to establish at risk. Please don’t ruin this for everyone.
If you’re heading to the Waitarake trails, you must use the Waitarake Access Trail to get to Kaka Road and follow all signage and closures.
🙏 Please be our eyes and ears and help spread the word. We need everyone to respect the closures so we can maintain recreational access to Waitarake during harvesting.
Follow all signage. If in doubt - don't go!
Details:
❌Sharlands Road is closed.
❌Central Rd is closed off Sharlands Road.
❌Kaka, Broken Axe & Putakari are closed due to significant, and dangerous tree fall.
✅Kaka Road can be accessed via the Waitarake Access trail. This gives access to Supplejack, Rimu, Matai etc.
✅Maitai Face trails can be accessed via Te Piki climbing trail. You are allowed use Central Rd from the top of the climbing trail to access Goat Hill Rd.
