🥊 A BIG MIHI & AN UPDATE ON LYDIA 🥊
A huge mihi and thank you to everyone who supported our Lotto Ball fundraiser to help Lydia and Coach travel to Christchurch for Papanui Boxing Club’s annual Heavy Hitters event at Hornby tomorrow night.
Unfortunately, Lydia hasn’t been well this week, and after careful consideration I’ve made the decision to withdraw her from tomorrow night’s bout.
We’re both disappointed, as Papanui always puts on a fantastic night of high-quality boxing, and we were really looking forward to being part of it.
The priority now is for Lyds to rest, recover and get herself back to 100% as we turn our focus towards the New Zealand Championships in Whanganui, just over three weeks away. 🇳🇿🥊
The winners of the Lotto Ball fundraiser will still be drawn tomorrow night. With Lydia no longer travelling to Christchurch, all funds raised will now go towards her travel and preparation for the New Zealand Championships.
A massive thank you again to everyone who has supported Lydia’s journey. Your support means a lot to both of us and helps give her the opportunity to compete at the highest level.
All the very best to Papanui Boxing Club and every boxer stepping through the ropes tomorrow night. Have a great night of boxing! 🥊
The Nationals are the next target. 💪🇳🇿

🥊 BRISBANE GOLDEN GLOVES — SEMIFINAL
Lydia lost her semifinal on points to a very experienced Australian representative, but showed she can match it with boxers competing at an international level.
Lyds fought a great fight, especially considering she has only had 15 fights and is still in her second year of boxing.
We had the option of entering her in the 13–21 fights A Grade division, but Lydia only wanted to come to Brisbane if she could compete in the Open division and test herself against some of the best international female boxers.
And that’s exactly what she has done.
We’ll take yesterday’s quarterfinal win, the good even semifinal, and everything we’ve learned from both fights as an overall win. These experiences will only make Lydia a better boxer and help take her to the next level.
A huge mihi to the Canterbury team and coaches for always supporting us whenever we’ve needed you. Your help and friendship are appreciated ❤️🖤
We are incredibly proud of you Lydia 🇳🇿
The journey continues. 👊🏽
