A service to celebrate the extraordinary life of Duane Cameron will be held at Eagars Te Henui Chapel, 46 Watson Street, New Plymouth, on Friday 4 September 2026 at 10.30am, followed by a private family cremation.

To help manage numbers at Eagers, there is an alternative option to view the livestream at the New Plymouth Club - we kindly request that all squashies wishing to view the funeral make use of this option.

We are devastated to share the passing of Duane Cameron. Known for his banter on and off the court, “show pony” style of squash, Duane was an absolute character and asset to the squash club and many other local clubs. Our thoughts go out to his wife Sarah and their three kids.

All of us in the squash and wider community will miss you mate, fly high 🕊️

Duane’s funeral will be next Friday, details to come.

We had the Entec KP Open & Doubles tournament on the weekend, and man, what a weekend. Super cool to have a massive Taupō crew make the trip, along with a few from Ohakune, Whangārei, Te Kūiti, and of course from all over the Taranaki! 🏔️

Really appreciate everyone going with the flow - everyone who jumped to fill in gaps, move game times, it all just ran smoothly. Shout out to Darky from Ōkato who filled in on a couple hours notice after a last minute pullout. And to Amy and Denise for helping me find fill ins in the lead up 😮‍💨

Huge congrats to our open winners Abbie Holmes and Allan Bailey, and the open doubles winners Tarek and Sam, along with all our winners in the other divisions 🏆

And a big thanks to Entec for sponsoring yet again - we decided it’s been at least 10 years that they have been sponsoring this event which we appreciate hugely - also awesome to see Rob himself back on court for his first tournament in 4 years! 💪🏻

The D grade men appreciate everyone who supported them in the kitchen, how good was their food! And shout out John Williams and team for coordinating dinner Saturday night, man knows how to feed a crowd 🔥

That was our last tournament for the season, but hope to see you again soon at our doubles in February!!

KP Girls looking great 🤩 at the AD Long cup masters teams event. They were the only all female team and although not taking out their division they did better their seeding. Well done ladies!
Our Central compatriots from Wanganui took out the top division. Congratulations to them. Looks like a fun weekend of squash.
