New Plymouth Bowling Club

Someone’s having a birthday tomorrow - Celebration lunch today at the Treehouse with some of her bowling buddies - Happy birthday for tomorrow Sue Edwards.

Good luck to our two ladies Elaine Hodge & Margy Carey who will be competing in the New Zealand Champion of Champion Ladies Pairs in Hastings this coming weekend.

We will all be behind you and watching the results with interest - Give it heaps girls.

The Club held a Cabaret last night at the Club Rooms and was enjoyed by many - Even although it was a rather chilly evening, plenty ventured out for some fun and plenty of dancing by the looks of it. Below are some photos of the members enjoying themselves.

The Ladies had their second winter luncheon today at Gustos. A good turnout which was very pleasing, good company and plenty of talking was done amongst us all. The meals were very nice - Can certainly recommend. Thank you to you all for attending these lunches - Always good to get together for a good old catchup.

The Club had its AGM this morning with a good turn out of members which was good to see. - A great surprise for Val McEldowney who was awarded with Life Membership - Val is a very dedicated member of the Club and has put in many years of hard work - Certainly well deserved. Wade Donovan who did not stand for President this year due to work commitments was thanked for his work over the last couple of years.

What a beautiful afternoon we had today for the Club’s Closing Day/presentation of Trophies - A great turnout of members for a very enjoyable afternoon -We started off with a small Mixed Fours Tournament kindly sponsored by Stumble Inn. Three games of six ends followed by afternoon tea and then the Presentation of Trophies for the year was completed.

The Club had a great season this year overall considering the crap weather we had at the beginning of the season. We did manage to get most of our competitions completed so that was pleasing - It was nice to get new members who have fitted in to the Club really well. Big thanks to everyone who has helped out with various things during the season - This is always most appreciated - Without your help the Club would not run so smoothly.

Another three finals completed - The Ladies & Mens Champion of Champion Singles & the Abrahams Ladies Open Triples.

Our three ladies - Anne Brophy, Val Symes & Val McEldowney came out winners of the Ladies Open Triples - Congratulations and well done girls. Great result.

Both Margy & Bart were Runners up of these Championships. Very close games with the scores in both games being 20/21 - Great results by the both of you. Only 1 point in it.

Well what a very successful day for New Plymouth today - You have certainly all done the Club proud and should all hold your heads high. Now time for a well deserved break.
