That’s Right! Matatū Sevens is BACK for 2026

Matatū Sevens is a Women and Girls Sevens tournament is being held on Saturday 21 November @ Prebbleton RFC, Christchurch. You can sign up as a club, school or a bunch of mates, everyone is welcome, and we cannot wait to see you all for what we hope will be a great day of rugby and tūhono (connection).

🏆🏉Faye Allan Memorial trophy🏉🏆

On Saturday the North Otago women’s team took on the South Canterbury women’s team for the Faye Allan Memorial trophy.🏆
This is always such a special occasion as we celebrate and remember Faye for all the hard work and effort she put into our club. 🥰
The North Otago Women won 31-22 and remain champions of the Faye Allan memorial trophy for another year. 🏉
Congratulations to all who were involved and a special congratulations to our Waitaki Wahine players.❤️💙🤍

✨ Faye Memorial Trophy ✨

This Saturday we once again honour the legacy of Faye Allan, a true champion of women’s rugby in North Otago.

Faye was the first President of the Waitaki Wāhine Rugby Club and played an instrumental role in growing the women’s game throughout our region. Her passion, dedication and commitment continue to inspire us, and the annual Faye Allan Memorial Trophy remains a fitting way to celebrate her legacy.

This year the occasion will look a little different. While Waitaki Wāhine is not fielding a senior women’s team this season, it was important to us that Faye’s legacy continues to be recognised. As custodians of the trophy alongside North Otago Rugby, we are proud to see it contested between North Otago and South Canterbury this year.

We encourage everyone to come along, support the players, and join us in remembering an incredible woman whose impact on women’s rugby is still felt today.
