This week I ran a couple of obstacle clinics, (and some interesting fun Lessons in between). There is always so much learning to be had from every horse and every Clinic… (And the wonderful people that attend!)
I was too busy teaching to take photos but there are a couple that I took of Horses grazing at the end of the Clinic …Horses eating grass… Big deal right? Well at the beginning of the Clinic all the Horses were too over threshold and anxious to even think about grazing. So much can be learned from the simple things. What I teach is about understanding body language, emotional regulation, clarity of cues and intentions, with the aim to increase understanding harmony and in turn-partnership. The more we learn to listen observe and respond effectively, the easier the horse finds it to trust, and then concentrate and respond appropriately. Once we have a relaxed responsive horse- it is our responsibility to provide clear and effective communication.
The aim is always to have your horse finished a session feeling better than when it started… And I’m happy to say that was the case for all these Horses, once we got them relaxed and focused, the obstacles were not a problem!😊
The next obstacle Clinic will be on Saturday, the 22nd of August😊

Good morning guys, I’m very sorry but it’s been torrential rain all night here and it’s still going this morning… Everything is sodden so I think it’s best if we postpone the obstacle clinic today. Please let me know which days suit you to reschedule.

We were Lucky enough to have good weather and great clients and horses for both sessions of the horsemanship /obstacle clinics yesterday… I love meeting people and their horses- sharing knowledge and ideas, and hearing people’s journeys .
The time flys by , and I often think I must run a full day clinic sometime soon, so there is more time with each individual and to dive deeper into it!

(The next one after that won’t be until 22nd August )

So proud of Jack yesterday! A couple of weeks ago we competed in our first working equitation ribbon day for quite some time, and he stepped up a grade to prelim . We ended up taking the win.… Today was the final in the series , and again he tried his little heart out, and although there is plenty to work on, he was super willing and ended up first again, taking out the champion for the series. (to be fair, it is a pretty small class at this level… and because the ribbon day was held at our property, I guess we have a Home advantage ..but I was super happy with how he went anyway)
I was also very proud of Heather and Rico, -at the last ribbon day they came third, and at this ribbon day they came fifth so have been very consistent. Danielle also rode mika at the last ribbon day and came a very credible 4th… they make a gorgeous combination😊
Looking forward to the connection with obstacles clinic today !
