Congratulations to my students who successfully passed their black belt gradings over the weekend.
Beth and Andrew (both promoted to 2nd degree black belt), Rob and Allan (1st degree black belts), and Sullivan and Gabriel (Junior Black Belts).
We all enjoyed a lovely celebratory lunch following the grading. As always, the hard work starts again today!

A big that you to all my other black belts who helped out at the grading. It’s really important to be there to support those grading to get through the rough patches, and to help celebrate with them afterwards.

Remember, black belt is just the beginning of the journey, not the end.

Congratulations to our new black belts - Luke, Sean and Wynter who received 1st degree black belt and Chloey, Elliot and Elen, who received their Junior black belts.

Very pleased with the effort they put in at the grading and the months leading up. Very proud of you all.

Massive thank you to the black belts who attended to support and put them through their paces.

Please remember we only have the last 2 classes running tonight, the first is cancelled (no 5.30-6.15pm class)
Junior class starts at 6.15-7pm for those who normally train on Wednesday night (any rank). Grading will be conducted for those yet to be graded.
Cadets class is 7-8pm and gradings will take place there for those in that class who have yet to grade. Higher grades in that class will be assisting me with grading.

Just a reminder that all juniors grading tonight should attend the 1st class regardless of rank I.e. grading is 5.30-6.15pm.

Normal 6.15pm class..blues belts and above BUT any lower grades who were away last week and haven’t been assessed yet, may also attend this class. If ready to grade you need to attend Wednesday nights grading (also 5.30-6.15pm).

Please bring sparring gear this week to all classes.

If grading, please pay the grading fee before class.

Congratulations to our new black belts. Kate and Nick did a fantastic job to achieve adult black belt. Great job sticking at it after receiving their junior black belts a few years back! Those new black tops look cool.

Also, big thumbs up to Sachin, Aari, Tui, Leach, Russell and Matthew for achieving their junior black belts after many years training. I hope you can follow in Kate and Nicks footsteps! Don’t forget the junior black belt games night on Wednesday to wrap up the year!

Thx to all my black belts for turning up to test, support and celebrate with our new black belts. I really appreciate the time and effort you put in to assist others improve in Kenpo.

Hopefully, all members received last nights email.
Club is required to be closed at COVID levels 3 and 4, so NO training tonight and Thursday night.
I will update again on weekend once we know what is happening from Saturday onwards for our region.

Sadly, last night Gail Mason passed away after a long battle with cancer. Gail is the wife of Ron, who heads up Northland Kenpo Karate.
They have been great friends and supporters of myself and the club and were regulars at our yearly competition for many years, bringing a number of students down to compete.

Gail, herself, was a high ranking black belt with many years training in Kenpo and tai chi. She was also a tireless worker behind the scenes helping run Northland Kenpo.

Our deepest sympathies to Ron, all their family and whanau, and to all Northland Kenpo members both current and former.

Beach Training cancelled tonight.
Rain looks to be on the way, and even if late the blistering northerly will be in our faces and simply not pleasant.

I will email later in the week regarding a replacement night if possible.
