Kia ora dancers β¨π
Our next Dance Temple is this Friday, 21st August, and this one is going to be a special collaboration from the Dance Temple crew! β€οΈπ₯
As winter slowly begins to loosen its grip and we feel the first hints of spring stirring beneath the surface, we gather once again to move, connect, release and celebrate together.
This time the musical journey has been created collaboratively by the Dance Temple crew, bringing together our collective inspiration, energy and love of movement. πΆβ¨
Taking the reins for the evening are DJ Darkling & Kamal, weaving the sounds together and taking us on a journey through rhythm, groove, stillness and wildness. ππ₯
Come as you are. Shake off the week, drop into your body, open your heart and let the music move you.
Whether you're a seasoned dancer or completely new to Dance Temple, you're warmly welcome in our open-hearted, lightly facilitated space. Just music, movement, connection and the freedom to dance your own dance. ππ«
And afterwards, we'll slow things down, share some chai and treats, and enjoy some community connection. ββ€οΈ

β¨ Step into the heart of winter with us for an evening of movement, connection, and celebration. As the season invites us to slow down and turn inward, we gather to rekindle our inner fire through dance, music, and community. ππ₯
The first big snow has dusted the Southern Alps, the nights are long, and the stars shine brightly overhead. We are still held in the beautiful energy of Matariki β a time of remembrance, gratitude, renewal, and looking towards the future. Together we'll honour this season by moving with presence, warmth, and intention.
Colette will be guiding us, inviting us to soften into our bodies, awaken our spirits, and discover what wants to move. Whether your dance is joyful, gentle, wild, or contemplative, every step is welcome.
Come dance the wave, reconnect with yourself, and share in the magic of moving together.
Whether you're a seasoned dancer or simply curious to explore, everyone is welcome in our open-hearted, lightly facilitated space. It's a place to express, explore, connect, release, and celebrate life together. π
After the dance, we'll gather for chai, treats, and a chance to connect with our wonderful community. βπ

Woohoo! It's our 5th birthday and we are celebrating this Friday 19th June @ the Lower Moutere Hall. ππ

Dance in the darkness and discover your Light
On 19 June, we gather at the threshold of a potent inner season, held between the lingering energies of recent eclipses and the deepening pull of the approaching Cancer New Moon. The sky invites introspection, emotional renewal, and a return to what truly nourishes. In the Mayan calendar, this period resonates with cycles of transformation and inner truth, a time to shed old skins and listen deeply to the wisdom within.
This is a Winter portal.
βDancing in the Dark, Finding Your Lightβ is a 5Rhythms-inspired ecstatic dance journey guided by Kamal. We begin in spacious, dreamlike soundscapes, softening the body and opening awareness. The wave builds into earthy rhythms, pulsing beats, and ecstatic release, then lifting into joyful, lyrical expression and settling into deep stillness with piano and strings. A full arc of death, rebirth, and renewal, mirroring both the cosmos and the cycles within.
Guiding this journey is Kamal, weaving layered and looping soundscapes that bridge worlds. His sets blend sacred musical traditions with field recordings, toning drones, mantra, traditional instrumentation, and global electronic rhythmsβinfused with a strong presence of drums in this offering.
A bhakti yogi and lifelong dancer, Kamal channels both the fire of Latin America and the silence of deep meditation. His work creates a space where movement becomes prayer, and sound becomes a pathway to clarity, joy, and presence.
Together, we move the wave:
flowing atmospheres β grounded rhythms β ecstatic release β joyful expression β spacious stillness.
Come dance the darkness.
Come find your light.
Align, awaken, and remember your rhythm.

Kia ora dancers π
Our next Dance Temple is this Friday 15th May at the Lower Moutere Memorial Hall, and weβd love β€ to welcome you onto the dance floor. π
As autumn begins making way for winter, we find ourselves crossing another seasonal threshold. The days grow shorter, the air cooler, and nature gently invites us inward toward reflection, grounding, and the quieter rhythms within. Through dance, we can release what no longer needs to be carried and open space for clarity, presence, and renewal.
Darklingβs May set is a tribute to the human experience of transition and transformation and invites you to dance with the pain and struggle of what is, and walk through the valley of your own shadow and into the light of what is yet to come.
"Rise from the ashes, breathe in the flame, walk through the thunder and carry no shame."
Open your eyes, and breathe.
Seasonally we have just passed through the Celtic marker of Samhain which marks the changeover into the dark. Samheim means βsummerβs endβ and was one of the two major transitions of the year, with Beltane being the other.
Tonight is an invitation to embody any life transitions or transformations you may be experiencing. Let us dance together in a celebration of transformation.. β¨
All are welcome in our open-hearted, lightly facilitated space for everyone to move freely, connect authentically, and celebrate being together in community. π
After the dance, there will be time to relax, chat, and enjoy some chai and treats together.
