Some of us experience rest in many different ways and some may not dedicate time to taking rest at all. I've often felt guilt when spending time In a rest state and placed it low on the priority list. What I've become to understand recently is that if i don't dedicate time to myself, to rest regularly when needed, once I do stop many ailments that have been manifesting within the body start to surface. Quite literally forcing me to surrender and rest.

For me rest has been focused within both the physical and mental vessel; soaking my feet, bathing in the winter sun, daydreaming, fasting, reading, stretching, massage, decluttering, walks, selling unused items, face mask, gardening.

And my take away from it all?
Allow yourself to take time to rest when needed. Be comfortable in this space. You will thank yourself later.

Have you chanted this mantra before? Been inclined to follow the other students in class? Had absolutely no idea what it means but do it anyway?

From what I have learnt and know today, the original and widely recognized AUM mantra is a universal sound, symbolizing ultimate reality. When chanting through each A U M, the vibrations created align with 7 energy points within the body. Seven levels of consciousness, which are experienced on the inner journey of meditation and contemplation.
Remembering the sound vibration of AUM, along with a deep feeling for the meaning of what it represents, brings both the realization of the individual Self and the removal of obstacles that normally block that realization.

With practice, it gradually becomes easier for one to maintain awareness of these meanings as attention moves through the parts of the AUM Mantra (The A, U, M, and Silence of OM Mantra). Over time, that awareness brings increasing insight of the true nature of these levels of consciousness. Eventually one moves to the direct experience of the Absolute Reality, that consciousness which permeates All (Silence after A, U, and M of OM Mantra). This is the state of Self-realization.
