Cromwell Training Day ππ₯π
Deegs finally ticked off a couple of jumps heβs been looking at for a while. After months of rolling them, sizing them up, overthinking them and finding every excuse under the sun, he finally decided today was the day to just send it.
And bloody hell, he did. π
The confidence is building every ride and today was one of those days where everything seemed to click. Faster, smoother and looking more comfortable every lap.
Dad spent most of the day doing what all motocross parents do:
βTake it easy mate.β
Then immediately pulling his phone out to get a video when things got sketchy. π
Motocross parenting is a strange hobby. You spend thousands on bikes, gear, fuel and tyres, only to stand beside a track cheering while your child actively tries to leave the planet.
The progress today was unreal though and itβs awesome seeing all the hard work starting to pay off.
Huge thanks to the businesses helping keep the dream alive:
ποΈ Kawasaki New Zealand
π§ Motoworx Winton
π Civil Construction
ποΈ Qt Auto Refinishing
π€ Shotover Jet
King of Central is getting closer.
The bike is ready. Deegs is ready.
And if Deegs keeps riding like he did today, the competition might want to start practising their excuses now. πππ₯
Bring on King of Central!

What a weekend in Christchurch at the 2026 Michael Godfrey! π
Iβve never raced this track before, so it was a pretty cool experience. I raced 5 races over the weekend and my lap times got faster every race as my confidence grew.
To come away with 5th overall, I was stoked! π
A huge thank you to my Nana, my big brother, his partner and my nieces for coming out and supporting me. It was awesome having you there cheering me on.
Big thanks to Dad, as always, for being my coach, mechanic, motivator and biggest supporter. Thanks for all the hours you put in to get me and bike #77 to the track every weekend.
A special thanks to Tracey at Cluster MX Photography for the BP voucher in recognition of the travel. It was a really cool surprise and much appreciated!
And of course, a massive thank you to my sponsors. I hope Iβm making you proud:

I couldnβt do it without your support.

π₯ ROUND 4 HUNTER UPDATE π₯
Check out this HOLE SHOT!!! π€―π¨
First ride back since breaking his finger and once he dials it inβ¦ heβs ON π Few crashes today but the speed is definitely there when everything clicks π
πͺ
Passing aggressive, some really good starts and most importantly β having fun!! ππ
As you can probably hear in the videoβ¦ thatβs one proud Dad on the sidelines πβ€οΈ
Big thanks to SDBR for another awesome day π Massive effort from all the volunteers and everyone involved in making these events happen!
And huge thanks to our awesome sponsors β Team Green, Motoworx Winton, Civil Construction and Shotover Jet, Queenstown Auto Refinishing π

π₯ SDBR Round 3 β Hunter update π₯
Came out firing with a 2nd in race one πͺ
Backed it up with a 4th and 5th β solid as ππ½
BEST EVER RESULT in Junior A π€π
ANDβ¦ 3RD OVERALL FOR THE DAY!! π₯π₯
Said his finger was βa little soreββ¦
we told him to ride it off π€¦ββοΈπ
Turns out it was actually broken from rugby on Saturday π
One busted finger and still out there giving it heapsβ¦ unreal effort π
Massive thanks to our sponsors for backing our boy π
Massive effort β proud as! π

π Hunter vs The KX250: Becoming Friends π
First couple races he was just politely asking the bike to cooperateβ¦
Bike said βnahβ π
π Race 1 β 10th (still negotiating)
π Race 2 β 10th (terms & conditions being discussed)
π Race 3 β OHHHH OKAY THENβ¦ 5th π₯
That last one he finally stopped arguing with it and just pinned it π₯
Proper battles all day β elbows out, zero breathing, mumβs heart rate in the red zone π
Top 10 overall and figuring this 250 thing out one throttle twist at a time.
Huge thanks to Winton Motoworx and Shotover Jet for backing the chaos π

π RACE DAY RECAP π
Epic conditions, epic racingβ¦ and apparently Iβve decided one class just isnβt enough punishment for myself π
Second time double classing and Iβm still walking πͺπΌ
π₯ Womenβs: 2-2-1
Last race I grabbed the holeshot and led from start to finish π Felt calm on the outsideβ¦ absolutely not calm on the inside π Annie was glued to me an gaining the whole moto β no room for mistakes!
And the finish line video? Even better.
You can clearly hear Mum screaming like Iβd just won a world title ππ Honestly louder than my bike. 10/10 pit crew energy.
π₯ Senior Bβs: 8-8-7
Then I lined up with the Senior Bβs because apparently I enjoy being humbled. Character building stuff. Questioned my fitness. Questioned my sanity. Would do it again.
Massive thanks to Southern Dirt Bike Riders for an awesome event ππΌ Such a shame the weather canned day two β but thatβs NZ racing!
Huge love to my sponsors for backing the chaos β€οΈ

What an unforgettable Burt Munro experience 2026 ππ₯
So incredibly proud of these two.
UP 250cc:
β’ Hunter β 5th equal NZ
β’ Paige β 8th NZ
1 Mile Dash:
β’ Hunter β 14th
β’ Paige β 15th
A massive achievement for Hunter, completing his first ever 50-mile race and finishing a solid 15th πͺπ
Absolutely stoked with his efforts , pretty sure he was the first 250cc β a well-deserved trip to McDonaldβs to celebrate ππ
Paige was unfortunately taken out in the first 1-mile dash, through no fault of her own. She did start the 50-mile, but you could tell she just wasnβt right. With her health coming first, we made the tough call to pull her out on lap 5. She was gutted and wanted to keep going but dad said noβ but thatβs racing.
Tough lessons, huge heart, and plenty of motivation moving forward.
Bring on next year π₯ποΈ
Big thanks to all that came to support the kids and help out!

Round 2 of the XC Nationals done and dusted π₯ 14 girls entered!!
Practice was unreal β bike felt mint and confidence was highβ¦ Awsome Startβ¦. Then heading into lap 2, just after getting up the step hill, my handlebars chose VIOLENCE. Mounts snapped. Bars exited the chat. Race plans instantly in shambles.
Massive shoutout to Ben and Tim who full-sprinted over and up the hill to rescue me (and what little dignity I had left) β absolute legends π
Somehow made it back to the pits where peak Kiwi engineering was deployed β cable ties and duct tape. Huge thanks to Caleb Holmes and the random pit heroes who jumped in to help β forever grateful π
Bars were technically attached, so I went back out anyway and still matched my last lap time to my first.
Mum told me to βjust ride and finishββ¦ Which is cute advice from someone who then fell into a creek while trying to come check I was ok because it βlooked like grassβ ππ±π¦
First time racing without Dad with meβ¦ really felt that one β€οΈ
Huge thanks Palmerston North and Rewa β what an experience!! Massive thanks to my sponsors, Mum and Dad and camp dad Tim, forever greatfulβ€οΈ
Didnβt go to plan, but thatβs cross country racing. Already fizzed for Rounds 3 & 4 in Nelson in March π
Now heading home to hopefully get these handlebars sorted before the Burt Munro 50 Mile & NZ Beach Race Champs on Fridayβ¦ because clearly chaos is a lifestyle choice ππ
