COVID-19:
Global Games will continue to take guidance from the Government and Ministry of Health regarding COVID-19. Given the nature of how fast things are changing, it is fair to say that the landscape will be very different come September, so we will make regular updates as new information comes to hand to keep everyone as informed as possible.
2022 is the year we get back to what we do best, having an awesome time giving thousands of keen junior rugby players a world-class sporting experience!

It's with great sadness we have to cancel the New Zealand Junior Rugby Festivals for 2021 to be held in Taupō, Queenstown and Christchurch.
The festivals can only run under level 1, and with the nation still firmly being in level 4, with cases only increasing it's looking like sometime before we get back to a level 1.
We are absolutely gutted for everyone involved, especially all the junior players that will miss out on touring with their teammates, with the chance to represent their clubs and communities, playing and meeting teams from across New Zealand and Australia.
We know and understand the commitment made by so many to make it possible for your teams to attend. Hardworking volunteer coaches, managers and whānau members putting in so much hard work to give your young players these opportunities for nothing more than love.
Our own team has also put in so much effort and hard work over the last year to host all of the teams and run these events, so many incredible people with the mission to give thousands of grassroots footy players an unforgettable experience. Believe us when we say we are hurting with you.
Since we first went into lockdown we have been working tirelessly with the possible scenario of postponing the events to early November. Going back and forth with stakeholders, venues, referees, crew members and providers to ensure the teams don’t miss out again! But as we have moved into this week and with case numbers only going up, and seeing the extended lockdowns in Australia, it would be unfair to give what could be false hope for something that just might not be possible.
If there are any positives, we can all be thankful to have enjoyed most of the winter sports season without interruption and freedoms other nations could only dream of during some of the most turbulent times in modern world history.
It’s more important than ever that we stay connected and continue to invest our country’s greatest asset, our young people. So we will back stronger and better than ever in 2022, there is no way we are going out like this.
Much love from all of the Global Games team

Sending big love to all of our junior rugby teams right across NZ and also our cousins in Australia.
Like everyone, we are paying close attention to the new Covid developments in Auckland and how this will impact us.
We are hopeful that the speed we moved into level 4 will ensure we can get on top of this latest outbreak as soon as possible and start to move back down the levels.
We understand many of you are worried about what will happen now. These lockdowns trigger a lot of emotions for people and affect us all very differently.
For my own family, we have three kids aged 10 and under, who are upset about missing school, their friends and sports. Our oldest boy Cooper and his team are coming to Taupō to play in his first-ever festival in the under 9’s, he is now fretting about what will happen. We also run a family bakery that my wife and I both work in every day and hire a number of employees, so we understand what people are feeling. We are all in this together team!
Let's all stay as positive as we can and be there for one another! Some things are completely out of our control. What we can control is how we deal with it and how we are towards others. Keep in touch with your friends and whanau and make sure they are doing ok during this time.
Rest assured we will provide updates and a full statement early next week.
Stay safe everyone

Club: Belfast
Grade: Queenstown U12
Club Colours: Green & Gold
Mascot/Emblem: Cobras
Home Ground: Sheldon Park (The Snake Pit) / Northwood Park / Englefield Park
The Belfast Rugby Football Club is made up of 4 Senior teams (Division 1, Division 2, Metro Colts and Division 4 “Munchers”, and 11 Junior teams from U6 to U13. We pride ourselves on being the club of choice in the North-West of Christchurch
It was initially thought Belfast RFC was formed in 1947, hence in 1972 and 1997 we held celebrations to commemorate 25 and 50 years respectively, however one of our Special Life Members Les McFadden, who is also part of and a Trustee of the CRFU Historical Trust, found reference to the Belfast Rugby Football Club in the early 1900’s. Further research revealed that the club had in fact made an application for colours to register a team in 1908 and it’s first competitive game that year was against a team from the Richmond Rugby Club. The Belfast Rugby Football Club on the 1st April 1908 asked for approval for colours, a black jersey with a white band on the left arm and white shorts. It was decided not to accept the colours, as this was very similar to others already appropriated. The Belfast Rugby Football Club was granted their colours of green and gold a week later on 8th April 1908.
The club then had teams in CRFU competitions until the end of 1938, and in 1939 went into recess during the 2nd World War. The club was reformed in 1947. Our Centenary year was in 2016 which is 108 years since the club was formed, but 100 years of playing due to the 8 years in recess during the 2nd World War.
We have had seven All Blacks through the club, including Billy Bush, Wayne Smith, Kieran Keane, Hayden (Hud) Rickett, Craig Green, Todd Blackadder and Sonny Bill Williams. We also have Japan Rugby Legend, Luke Thompson who has played in a record 4 World Cups for his adopted country.
Some great future stars ⭐️ on both teams here. Awesome match 🏉🇳🇿
