Winter water
05/09/2026
Not an easy winter guide day at all with icy, super gusty winds, rain, wind and wind. And wind.
Joel is a bloody good angler and with very few fish out, worked the water methodically cast by cast and was rewarded with a couple of bloody hard earned browns. Well done buddy!
Not an easy day

In southland? Well worth popping in for a chat with these guys, learn a little flytying and yarn with the legend Gerald and crew about your coming season requirements
We will be tying flies at Invercargill Hunting & Fishing this Saturday (5th September) from 10:00am to 1:00pm. Come along and see how this is done or to talk to us about the Club. We will also have information on our next Fly Fishing Course to be held at the end of January.

Final night at Doctari Hunts New Zealand in central otago and what a place this is! I Was focussed on Fallow this time around for the freezer and nothing down but it wasnt for the lack of opportunities.
I Drew on a few over the last 2 days but no shot, and totally numptied a total sitter at 20m at last light this evening, only a couple of hundred yards from the lodge. I dont want to talk about it 😩😩😩
A place I always love visiting and learning much about bowhunting and animal behaviour every time. This visits lesson, patience… Thank you Steve Doc and Nicky for your hospitality

Back at Doctari Safaris for my final bowhunt for winter, and its bloody good to be back! Windy as hell this avo but snuck within 30m of a group of stags, then 2 paces later was sprung by two animals around the corner.
A consolatory rabbit and an evening wander relaxing in the surrounds.
