2025/2026 Annual General Meeting.

Last night we held our AGM and wow what a response from our members! In my time within the club that was the highest rate of attendees to date.
Thank you for coming along and sharing with us leading into the 2026/2027 season.

Firstly, I'd like to thank the committee for their efforts over the past year. With a few stepping down from roles but remaining on committee I think we have a good mix of new and existing committee to get stuck into this year.

Some great tips from the South Canterbury Family Kart Club.

🔧 THE DARK ART OF KART WHEEL ALIGNMENT

Ever wondered why someone is lying on the ground in front of a kart, staring at the front wheels and muttering about toe, camber and caster?

Welcome to the dark arts of kart setup!
A few small changes to front-end geometry can make a surprisingly big difference to how your kart turns, how stable it feels and how the tyres behave.

So, what does what?

TOE
The direction the front wheels point in relation to each other.
A small amount of toe-out can help the kart respond to steering input, while too much can make it nervous and scrub speed.

CAMBER
The angle of the wheel when viewed from the front.
This affects how the tyre sits on the track, particularly when cornering, and can influence grip and tyre wear.

CASTER
The angle of the steering axis.
Caster affects how the kart loads the inside rear wheel when steering. More caster generally gives more front-end bite and helps lift the inside rear, while less caster can make the kart freer and easier to rotate.

And then there are ride heights, kingpin inclination, chassis stiffness, tyre pressures...

That's when the dark arts really begin!
The important thing is that there isn't necessarily one "perfect" setting. What works on a dry, grippy track may not be what you want on a slippery track, and different drivers and karts can require different setups.

📏 SCFKC ALIGNMENT KIT
SCFKC has a Rigetti Ridolfi laser wheel alignment kit available for hire by club members.
It allows you to accurately measure your toe and camber, rather than trying to set everything by eye.
The kit comes in its own case with the alignment tools, lasers and the required accessories.

If you're new to kart setup, don't be afraid to ask one of the more experienced members for a hand. There's usually someone around who's already made the mistake you're about to make!
Measure it. Change it. Test it. Learn from it.

Hi All

Our Agm is upon us and we intend to have this on the 1st of September. This will be held at Armadillo's at 700 pm.

This is a chance for all financial club members to have a say in the selection or re appointment of committee and positions

If you wish to make a submission to the club , i.e. a rule or something that you would like us to vote on; this is the time. the submissions must be sent via email and be received by no later than the 25th of August.

If you are considering attending you can contact or tell any of the committee or email also

These positions are all up for nomination on the night. If you wish to join you can talk to Andrew or myself or anyone on the committee.

The club members on this committee all put their own time in the running of the club . I myself am thankful of those on the current committee especially Andrew Simpson our President and how he has led the club implemental in our national relationships with the other clubs putting us on the map.

This last year saw 8 members attend Nationals a goal of Andrews and was a trip to remember

Well the weathers gotten the better of us today. Racing is postponed until next Sunday the 16th of August.

Enjoy a day with family or in the shed tinkering on those grass karts and we’ll catch you all next Sunday!!

We are keeping an eye on things over night and talking with our landowners to see what eventuates for the forecasted rain.

We will make a call at 7.30am if we are postponing a week or if conditions are good and we’re all go for racing.

Please keep an eye on our page and no early morning messages to committee as we all need our beauty sleep.
