NZDA - North Auckland Deerstalkers Keep up to date with range days, Hunting, competitions and other events at the North Auckland Deer Stalkers.

For all NZDA HUNTS courses please email; [email protected] The NZDA was founded in 1937 to promote recreational hunting and shooting sports. It is a national body with branches throughout New Zealand. The North Auckland Branch was established in 1958, on its current property at Riverhead. The Branch opens the range complex for shooting rimfire and centre fire calibre rifles only on 22 Sundays per year. There are two ranges:
•A covered 25m sighting in range.
•A 200/100/50m range for general practice and competitions. Registration begins at 9:00am, the safety briefing is at 9:15 am, and shooting begins at 9:30 am. Most morning sessions are general practice at the stated range, most often 100m. Afternoon sessions usually involve a competition of 1-2 hours duration, followed by more general practice until 4:30pm. During competitions members are welcome to continue general practice that fits in with the competition range and format. You may arrive and leave whenever you want, but people arriving after 9:30 may have to wait to be allocated a shooting lane.

A morning in Woodhill that makes you stop and take it all in 🌿

A whole mob of fallow does tucked quietly amongst the pines, completely unaware we were there. It’s moments like this that make every early start and every trip into the bush worth it.

Not every hunt ends with a shot. Sometimes, just being out there and witnessing moments like this is more than enough. 🦌🌲

A huge thank you to everyone who attended the Working Bee on Saturday! 👏

With around 18 volunteers on site and plenty of machinery in action, we achieved an incredible amount of work in just one day.

✅ Trees cut back
✅ Containers cleaned out
✅ Backstops raked
✅ Hedges and driveway trimmed
✅ Power cable cleared through the bush
✅ Waterline installed to the chiller
✅ Rubbish removed
✅ Blackberry, privet and other overgrowth cleared from the left-hand side of the range

The range is already looking completely different, and that’s thanks to the time, effort and teamwork of our amazing members.

We couldn’t do it without volunteers like you. Thank you for giving up your Saturday to help improve our facilities for everyone to enjoy. 💚

You may have already seen it on the Helisika page... the Spring Sika Hind Hunting Competition is back for 2026, just in a simpler format.

From 1 October to 15 November 2026, harvest a Sika hind and submit the jaw to one of the Sika Foundation's orange jaw boxes.

Please fill out the card, place it in the provided small plastic bag, and zip tie it to the jaw. Leave the jaw exposed to dry out in the box.

During the competition, the jaw boxes will be emptied every two weeks. There will be extra jaw cards in the Helisika office if needed.

Please also keep appropriate photos from the harvest, in case the date or entry needs to be verified.

The Sika Foundation jaw team will try to get your jaw results out as soon as possible, but they'll be out hunting, too.

What’s the process for joining our club?

Joining is easy! Simply get in touch with us or register through our website to express your interest in becoming a member. From there, we’ll guide you through the membership process and help introduce you to the club.

The best piece of advice? Soak it all in.
Remember WE ALL START SOMEWHERE!

Apply for party hunts, come along to club nights, get involved in workshops, and put your hand up when the club needs volunteers. Don’t be afraid to ask questions - we have a huge wealth of knowledge within our club, and our members are always happy to share their experience.

You only get out what you put in, so make the most of every opportunity and enjoy the journey.
