We would also like to mention our Funsticks. Every Monday afternoon we have 30 year 1/2 kids show up to have fun while learning how to play hockey. This year we have been working hard on our year 1 kids teaching them the basics with fun games and building up to mini games. The year 2 kids are also getting a good handle on the basics while we also teach them the rules of year 3/4 hockey ready for next year 😊.

What a last game for the Wekas to end the season! It was easiest the teams best game, with lots of connecting passes, goal saves and effective team work to score 4 goals. The score was neck and neck until the last third but unfortunately the batteries ran out in the last part of the game, going down 7-4 to StAC. Even though we didn’t come away with a win, the team had plenty of smiles at the end of the game knowing that they had played a great game.

Player of the day went to Hanna this week, for making some amazing runs with the balls up the line and even managing to score a goal. Hanna showed that she has taken onboard what we have been practicing at training into the game.

It really does take a village ❤️

What a season!!! We are so very proud of the Piwakawaka. They constantly punched above their weight and their never give up attitude was a true testament to that.
This week we played another strong team in Carlton Redcliffs losing 1-5. The score doesn’t do justice to how well we played. We had many shots narrowly miss their target after a lot of great passing. It was, as it has been all season, great to see so many put into practice what we been doing at trainings.
It was very hard to pick our awards this week but our dumpling went to Chelsea who all season has put in 100% and fights for every ball and today was no exception.
Our player of the day went to two players. Our captain today, Holly. Holly was everywhere today, winning so much ball.
Brooke our other POTD, did very well on attack, linking well with our midfield to almost score on multiple occasions. Both Holly and Brooke controlled the ball well.

Takahe had a nail biter of a last game against a very strong Harewood Dynamites who kept us under pressure the whole game. But we held our own and managed to get a few goals after being 1-0 down after the 1st third. Final score was a 3-1 win. Enaya took player of the day with a cracker of a game as keeper with multiple saves keeping us on top.
