It’s been a while but thanks to Sumo Racing NZ Scott will be back behind the wheel Friday and Saturday night at Baypark speedway. It’s his first run ever in a six shooter so there’s no expectations but it will be good to get a taste of a new class.

Was a hard fast night that didn’t quite come together for Scott and the team.
Grid 13 for first race we were pushing forward and up to 6th at one stage before finally having to retire with a flat right rear tyre.
Race two was grid 28 start, Scott being on a mission to show what the old boy can do he pushed forward and came home 12th.
Race three was grid 6 and a point to prove he was pushing hard and brought the 8R home in second place.
This gave the team 13th overall which was a great effort considering a DNF in race one.
Yet again huge thanks to Mark, Dave and Drew for the hours the put in and all our sponsors that make it happen.

The boys had a good run with only a few minor glitches in qualifying but with finishes of 7th, 2nd and 7th we are in the finals for tonight at the North island championships.
With a 30 car final our first grid for tonight is grid 13 so with an inside start Scott’s looking to move forward from there.
It was fast and furious racing last night and it’s only going to go up a notch tonight. Racing starts at 6 and it’s another warm one today in Gisborne.
Huge thanks to Jason Jones for the wash and workshop and some new boots for the race trailer.

With the North island champs this weekend in Gisborne we are locked and loaded and ready to hit the road in the morning for the trek through the gorge.
Dave, Drew and Scott have pumped some hours into the car getting it fully prepped and ready to turn some fast laps in qualifying.
Three groups of 28 with 9 going through to the finals for Saturday night it’s keep out of trouble and keep it clean.
As always, thanks to those that make it happen:

It has been a long time between drinks for the team in regards to doing any winning or standing on any podiums but last night was a double.
Having a shake down run before Gisborne and the North island champs next weekend we dropped into baypark for our first run there in 5 years!
30 cars for the BOP Champs it was going to be busy at the wheel but Scott seems to have shaken some rust and scored a win from grid 4 in the first race, 4th from Grid 19 in second race and 3rd from Grid 18 in the last race coming home second overall for the night.
Huge thanks go out to the team over the last month as it’s been trying times at and after the NZ Champs to try and find a solution to lack of speed but seems we are now tracking in the right direction.
Huge thanks to Deano, Drew, Dave and Mark for the time they have put into the car and all our sponsors who help to get us over the line
And thanks to Stuart Whittaker for some great pics as usual.

Well last night was a mixed bag for the team, between crew and driver they worked hard on chasing the track. 8th, 8th and 9th for the three races was pretty consistent but with such a fast group it only got us 6th in the group.
We are placed 13th for the repechage and the top 3 finishers moving onto the final and next 14 cars going into second tier competition.
Car is prepped and ready to go for the eve so fingers crossed and foot to the floor

It’s been a few lunches since we have done this NZ Stockcar champs thing, 5 years to be precise. A lot has happened over that time with the team for the good and the bad but it’s time to put the racing boots back on.
We are racing at Stratford for the next two nights, 200 cars entered being split into 8 groups and top 3 qualify through through with next 7 going to 2 repercharge (28 in each) early tomorrow night for the last 6 spots making 30 finalists.
Huge thanks to Mark, Dave, Drew and Nicki for the hours of prep and support and to all our sponsors who have come on board:

After far too long the new 8R Fredrickson built chassis has finally turned wheels in anger last night at Paradise Valley Speedway.
Starting off the back to settle the driver and car in out of the box the car was quick and set up on the mark.
After 4 laps the fan belt came adrift and lead to pulling off due to engine temp. In the pits it was identified that the spring tensioner has lost its pressure and allowing belt to float off under full revs.
Thanks to Jonny for letting us borrow a belt we did what we could to try and bypass tensioner and headed out for second race. With some minor set up tweaks Scott had car wound up straight out of box with lap times right up there but we only lasted another 4 laps before same issue occurred.
With a hectic work schedule from here on the team will work on car when we can to rectify a few issues and are aiming for the Fedrickson gold cup at baypark on the 29th of April for our next run.

Hey Team
Just a quick update, car is ready to go and we are going to have the 4th go at getting on track for the first time.
We will be heading to Paradise Valley Speedway this Saturday night to give Fred chassis #5 it’s debut fingers crossed.
There will be a fair bit of rust to blow out and no doubt getting the feel for the new car so there are zero expectations and staring let alone finishing 3 races is the goal.
Hopefully Scott can still fit through the window and we can see if he remembers wheather to go left or right!
