🔥 BEAT THE DECK — THAT’S A WRAP! 🃏

What a month it’s been!

A huge congratulations to everyone who took on Beat the Deck and stuck with it — whether you completed every day, squeezed it in when you could, or simply challenged yourself to do more than you normally would. 💪

❤️ TOGETHER WE RAISED $105 FOR THE WAKEFIELD VOLUNTEER FIRE BRIGADE! ❤️

And a special congratulations to our prize draw winner, Nicole Gardiner!

Today, I had the pleasure of handing over your donation to the Fire Chief. A small way for us to say thank you for everything our local volunteer firefighters do for our community.

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who took part, supported the challenge, encouraged other's and battled through those lunges! 😅👏

I hope you’re all feeling a little stronger, fitter, and proud of what you achieved.

💧 *HYDRATION MYTHS — LET’S CLEAR THEM UP!*

Think you need to drink 2 litres of water every single day? Or that coffee “doesn’t count”? 🤔

Here are a few common hydration myths:

❌ **“Everyone needs exactly 2L of water a day.”**
Your needs vary depending on your body size, activity, weather and diet.

❌ **“Coffee dehydrates you.”** ☕
Caffeinated drinks still contribute to your daily fluid intake.

❌ **“If you’re thirsty, you’re already dehydrated.”**
Thirst is one of your body’s normal signals to drink — you don’t need to panic every time you feel thirsty!

❌ **“You can’t drink too much water.”**
Actually, you can. Excessive water intake can be dangerous, especially during prolonged exercise.

💡 *The takeaway:* Stay hydrated throughout the day, drink more when you’re sweating or exercising, and pay attention to your body’s signals.

💧 *Hydration doesn’t have to be complicated!*

Not all “healthy” snacks are created equal. If you’re hungry again 20 minutes later, you probably need a little more *protein + fibre + healthy fats*.

Try:
🍎 Apple + peanut butter
🥚 Boiled eggs + wholegrain crackers
🥛 Greek yoghurt + berries + nuts
🥕 Veggie sticks + hummus
🍌 Banana + Greek yoghurt
🧀 Cottage cheese + fruit
🌰 A small handful of nuts + fruit

The goal isn’t to snack less — it’s to choose snacks that *actually satisfy you* and keep you going until your next meal. 💪

Decided to dip my toe back into the tennis scene. Starting slowly, a bit of movement and hit a couple of balls then off for a sauna Suzanne Spencer to recover so I can stay moving tomorrow. Excited to add this to my recovery routine.
Open to Suz4fitness members only to sign up at the moment. They have first dibs then will start advertising Sauna Memberships to those of you where gymming may not be your thing but a sauna is.....

Nutrition doesn’t have to be complicated, but there are a few common habits that can make it harder to reach your goals.

Some of the biggest mistakes I see are:
🥗 Skipping meals to “save calories”
🥩 Not eating enough protein
💧 Forgetting to stay hydrated
🚫 Cutting out foods you enjoy
⚖️ Expecting perfection instead of aiming for consistency

Small, sustainable changes will always beat extreme diets or quick fixes. Focus on building habits you can stick with, and your body will thank you for it.
