Stumbled across this old photo of myself and Galaxy during a Hunt Club trek in Port Waikato about 20 years ago.

It was one of those weekends where we had 4 seasons in one day, finished off with it absolutely pouring with rain all night. My mate and I were camping in her tiny tent that was too small for me, and every time I moved or stretched my legs would cause the tent to leak like heck, so much so my pillow, hair and feet were all wet with a whole floor of the tent being a puddle 😅 the following day trek was cancelled so we all proceeded to do the mud sliding getting all the floats and trucks out.
A great weekend with great memories made 🥰

The ugly southerly sky kept looming in with its freezing temps during the after school sessions 🥶 though thankfully we all finished up and horses out before the rain arrived 🌧️

When Shiner arrived a few months ago she could barely trot, let alone do trot poles.
We've worked very hard to build her health, strength and coordination up.
And today here she is doing small jumps with Miss 14 Equestrian.
The mare very much doubts herself, though with a rider that has confidence, leadership and belief that they both can achieve together, the wee mare tried.
Shiner just turned 22 a few days ago, and is showing she's still got plenty of gas in the tank 😁

For those that have asked about my bridle set up for the ponies wearing bits.
I've used a browband as the noseband, attached to the bottom of the cheek piece with the bit ring, attacked a shackle to both, and the reins attach to the shackle.

The most under rated movement of stillness in being ... The halt!

Most riders treat the halt as a pause between movements. It isn't. A horse that halts well — square, still, waiting — has had to organize itself. That organization is the same thing collection asks for, just at zero miles per hour.

Happy 22nd birthday Shiner 🎈 🐴
She's only been with us for 4 months and my gosh the huge changes to better her health for this lady!
When she arrived her feet were excessively long with no heels that he stood like a goat on a mountain top, she literally struggled to trot.
Her teeth hadn't been done for years, they were so sharp and out of alignment that her gums were all callous and ulcers.
Her selenium count was only 600, recent blood test I've got it up to 1600.
We had to do a lot of work of respecting personal space, and everything to her meant push forwards with huge mind and body brace. For the pain she was in I'm not surprised as she had to have a percentage of shut down with all that was going on physically with her body.
As she's becoming more well we're really seeing she's such a kind lady, gives the kids enough jif to keep them challenged though has a beautiful heart.
It's never too old to start again, repair the damage and have a new life 💖
