Message from the team Global Games - can you help out?

🙌 TAUPŌ — WE NEED A FEW MORE VOLUNTEERS THIS WEEKEND

💵 Volunteers receive $70 per day to cover daily expenses.
✅Must be 18 years or older, presentable and arrive in clean, tidy clothing

We’ve lost a few key volunteers due to sickness and other work commitments, so we need a few more hands to help us deliver an unforgettable experience for our young people many of whom are leaving their home regions for the first time.

From this Friday to Sunday, 144 junior rugby teams from New Zealand, Australia and the USA will come together at Owen Delany Park for Global Games.

That’s thousands of young players and their whānau—and we need local people to help give them a weekend they’ll always remember.

No rugby experience is needed—just a good attitude and a belief that young people are our greatest asset.

📅 Friday 18 to Sunday 20 September
⏰ 8am–4pm

Roles available:

🏉 Field and team support
ℹ️ Event HQ support
📦 Set-up and pack-down
🙋 Welcoming teams and providing directions

Help for one shift, one day or the whole festival. You’ll receive a clear role, a briefing and support from the event team.

We can also provide a written reference following the event. Great for your C.V

This is New Zealand’s Sport Event of the Year—and it only works because of our volunteers

Taupo Marist Junior Rugby would like to acknowledge Josh Standen's incredible 20 years of service to rugby in our region. Not everybody involved in junior rugby will realise just how much Josh contributes to every part of the junior game - refereeing, coaching coaches, coaching referees, taking tackle clinics, assessing players, governance...the list is endless.

Always giving his time in the evenings and weekends to be available when needed, we couldn't do it without you Josh.

On Tomorrow 🏉 NZ Marist is coming to Owen Delany Park!

Come on down and support the King Country Big Horns as they take on the NZ Marist U23 Development Team in what promises to be a fantastic afternoon of rugby!

The NZ Marist U23 Development Team brings together some of the best young Marist talent from across Aotearoa. Taupō Marist is incredibly proud to be one of 37 Marist clubs affiliated with NZ Marist, continuing a tradition that has connected Marist rugby communities throughout New Zealand for generations.

Make plenty of noise for our very own Hunter Downard, who will be proudly representing Taupō Marist as he pulls on the green and white of NZ Marist.

After the game, stick around and grab a photo with some of the NZ Marist players. Aunty Roschelle, one of the NZ Marist Team Managers, will be there to help make sure everyone gets the chance to meet the team.

On Sunday the U11 Storm rose before sunrise to travel through to Napier, competing in the Hawkes Bay Junior Community Rugby Festival.

Our team showed up with their infectious enthusiasm and got stuck in right from the very first whistle, working together to take on four tough teams from across the bay. Each try scored was celebrated, each turnover was hard-fought and the team kept their heads held high, playing their hearts out for each game.

Tairawhiti was awarded the Leadership prize from our team. He played with determination, leading from the front in tackles and always on the look out for a breakaway run. Ka pai tāu mahi!

Special mention to Blake, who jumped in and had fun playing up a grade with us alongside his brother. Blake got stuck in right from the get-go, even giving the forwards a go! Ka rāwe Blake!

Thankyou to George Colvin for reffing our games, and thankyou to all the whanau who kept it positive as always on the sidelines!

A special thanks to our amazing manager Vanessa for her behind-the-scenes mahi to make attending this festival possible for our team!

Amazing effort out there yesterday Storm, you all showed up and played your hearts out. You all embodied the values of Taupō Marist and represented the club well, like the absolute superstars you are!
