Wow what a day. Perfect weather, amazing terrain and most importantly an incredible support team who we would not be without.
A huge thank you to everyone who supported us through this journey from start to finish. We raised a total of $4,097 and Oxfam broke all records raising a total of $1,149,475!! ⭐
This means, we have improved the lives of over 75,000 people and their families. What does this look like?
💧 Because of you, schools in the Eastern Highlands of PNG have clean water for drinking and washing, so that they can benefit from a good education without being sick every few weeks.
🔨 Because of you, students are learning vocational skills in carpentry, enabling them to earn a livelihood and be able to support their families and communities.
📢 Because of you, women cocoa farmers who were treated unfairly by the chocolate industry have been advocated for making life fairer. You stood up and spoke on their behalf.
People like YOU believe in a safer, fairer world where everyone can enjoy a life of hope and opportunity. You are finding lasting solutions to poverty and injustice - we are beyond thankful for your support.

Our last team training session and one week to go!
A huge thank you to all of our very generous supporters. To date we have raised a total of $3,260 for Oxfam which will help a lot of pacific nation people into jobs by gaining new work skills, getting fresh drinking water for schools and villages and many other long term solutions for communities in need.
Thank you from the team 🥰

Tongariro Crossing was the last of our big walks. From here on we start tapering. Our walking poles were heaven sent getting down the scree from Red Crater Ridge to the Emerald Lakes. A stunning day with the perfect views from coast to coast and the usual blustery wind and cooler temps up at the Emerald Lakes. The shade through the last part of the track was most welcoming. Well done team.

Yesterday's training walk called for a "4 hour hard" track so we headed up the stunning Te Iringa track in the Kaimanawas. A steady uphill climb the whole way through beautiful shade in the forest with these incredible huge alpine cabbage trees at the top. Feeling very lucky to live in this part of the world right now!

Second time around for Taupō Trailwalker team
Stymied by a Covid-19 cancellation last year, a Taupō Oxfam Trailwalker team is looking forward — mostly — to walking the talk this year.

Another post moved from our old site - On 5th December we climbed the stunning Mt Urchin. A steep track that rewarded us with amazing views at the top.

Just moving a few posts from our old page - Saturday 17 Jan saw 3 members of the team hike the Tama Lakes trail to Upper Tama Lake - 17km in 4 hours. Stunning alpine scenery on this walk which starts in behind The Chateau on Mt Ruapehu. So lucky to be able to take a refreshing dip in Lake Taupo on the way home - it was so hot! .
