Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou katoa! 🇳🇿🥰🇵🇫
E rere ana ngā mihi ki te katoa i tautoko mai i te tira Māori o Aotearoa ki te whakataetae Pacific Cup ki Tahiti.
The Pacific Cup in Tahiti is one to remember, grow and appreciate who we are as Māori, how we are as a roopu, and what we have.
Big ngā mihi to our Masters/Kaumatua/Board for being with us and Mark for making sure we had what we needed for the week.
To all our whānau who kept up with us online and in person, 🥰 and to all our Pacific cousins and new friends, mauruururoa!

Some pics from the amazing prizegiving night, spoilt with local a Tahitian group and definitely something out of our comfort zone.

Ka rawe, Mīharo, Māuruururoa! What mean finish to our tournament, partnership, whānau reunion, friendship week in Tahiti.
We are proud of our wāhine and tāne teams,
Te Rongopai Clay Jenny Peters, Aroha Tito, Kyle Maihi, Reid Hilton, Mike Toeke, George Witana for taking out the Teams tāonga for wăhine, beating Tahiti, and tāne beating the Cook Islands.

It has been a great experience for all involved, even our Masters team and NZMGA team.
Biggest thanks to our hosts, As Atimaono Golf de Tahiti Fédération Polynésienne de Golf Golf de Tahiti an big week for all involved, mauruuru! 🥰👌🏽💪🏽⛳️🍻🏅

Another mean day on the course. Our wāhine Foursomes of Te Rongopai Clay and Aroha Tito defeated the Cook Island pair 4/3.
The afternoon saw Jenny and Te Rongopai win their Singles matches, both 4/2.
Tāne Foursomes of Kyle Maihi and George smash theor opponents, Tahiti 2, 9/7.
Singles matches Reid And Mike had a closer finish, but came home with the dubs!
Mean start team.

🥇 Reid Hamilton — Men’s Champion
🥇 Aroha Tito — Women’s Champion

Tous deux représentent Aotearoa 🇳🇿 et la New Zealand Māori Golf Association (NZMGA).

Un magnifique doublé pour nos amis Māori, au terme de trois journées de stroke play sur le parcours d’Atimaono.

Teams are doing mean with Reid in top.spot for the tāne, George 5 behind. Mike and Kyle are holding 8th and 9th after 2 rounds.
Aroha is leading the wāhine by 4 shots, Te Rongopai tied for 4th, Jenny tied for 5th.
Team event see the men and ladies leading so far.

🌟⛳️ MĀTARIKI TOURNAMENTS ACROSS AOTEAROA 🌟⛳️

As we celebrate Matariki and Puanga, Māori golfers throughout Aotearoa will come together on Friday 10 July 2026 to honour our traditions, reconnect with whānau and friends, and celebrate the game we love! (love to hate sometimes...)

Matariki marks the Māori New Year and the rising of the Matariki star cluster. For many, Matariki signals a time to remember those who have passed, celebrate the present, and plan for the future. For some iwi in the western regions of Aotearoa, Puanga (Rigel) is the star that heralds the Māori New Year and carries the same significance of reflection, renewal, and hope.

Golf tournaments held during this special time are more than just competitions. They are opportunities to strengthen whanaungatanga, celebrate our culture, share stories, and bring our communities together on the fairways.

⛳ To all clubs and regions hosting Matariki and Puanga tournaments on 10 July or the long weekend:
Thank you for continuing this proud tradition and creating spaces where golf and culture come together.
