PRE SEASON TRAINING

Taupo Phoenix Pre Season Training revs up again this Sunday, 12:00pm at Hickling Park. Bring some running shoes and water. This training is open to all, even those that aren't going to play league this year (we might just change your mind though). Those that are wanting to crack the Premiers in 2013 should all be there earning their spots. It would also do the U17, U20, Netballers and Reserves the world of good.
And yes, you read that correctly...the Bay of Plenty want to introduce an U20's grade next season so we will see how many people are interested. We will need new players to make it happen though.

All you Poker players or anybody else that just wants a place to go to watch Sky Sports on the projector with a quiet beer or two are invited down to the club rooms tonight (Tuesday 13/11/12). Doors are opening from 7pm with a poker tournament running soon after that. Easy $10 buy in with $5 going back to the club and rebuys allowed. Poker games are also being played on Sunday afternoon from 3pm. Help us fundraise to complete renovations of the club and prepare for next season...and have fun while you do it!

Congratulations to all our zonal reps that played over the last month or so. A special shout out to Matiu Love-Henry on being named in the U17 NZRL National Merit Team after the completion of the zonal competition. Outstanding effort and also congrats to Tui, Hopa and the rest of the whanau for their support!

Those involved with the Premier and Reserves rugby league teams in 2012 are invited to the clubrooms on Saturday night at 9pm for the team photos. Please bring your shorts and socks if you have them.

Also, the KIWIS'S vs KANGAROO'S rugby league game will be showing - kick off is expected around 9:30pm (which is why the photo is getting taken so late!).
Anybody that would like to watch the game is more than welcome to come on down to the club rooms and watch Kasiano run over the top of Tamou....GO THE KIWIS!!!

The Taupo Phoenix bar will be open from 3pm and food will be available. We will be running a few raffles with prizes including front row seats on the VIP couch for the big game! We may also run a few competitions - Pick the final score, Who will be named the 8th immortal etc.
There is only one place in Taupo that will focus on the games 100% - and won’t change the channel for any other sport...EVER! So come on down, get comfortable, support your team or just watch the action unfold!

Congratulations ex Phoenix and now Pikiao player Ahurei Winitana on making the NZ Residents U16s team! Must have been your year with the Phoenix mate haha! The only other Upper Central Zone player selected for NZ Resident teams was Waikato player Tama Koopu in the 18s.
