πŸ† NATIONAL CHAMPIONS! πŸ†

What an unforgettable day for Tauranga Boys’ College Water Polo!

Yesterday, our Senior team claimed the New Zealand Secondary Schools National Championship with a thrilling 9–8 victory over Hamilton Boys’ High School. This incredible result came just two hours after another nail biting 9–8 win over Sacred Heart in the semi-final, a true display of resilience, grit, and determination.

With the final matches brought forward due to the incoming cyclone, the team rose to the occasion under pressure and delivered when it mattered most.

This achievement comes just weeks after winning the North Island Championships, completing an outstanding DOUBLE GOLD and undefeated season. This is a testament to the hard work and commitment from everyone involved.

A huge congratulations to all players and management on an exceptional campaign. Special mention to the team Captain, Austin Roper, who was named North Island and Nationals MVP.

To our Year 13 leaders, Mac Goodwin, Austin Roper, Charlie Shivnan and Jake Henry, thank you for setting the standard. You fully embraced the team values and led the way in and out of the pool.

Finally, a huge thank you to our parents and supporters. Your energy, passion, and unwavering support lifted the team every step of the way. We certainly heard you from the stands!

As part of our pre-season camp, the boys hit Omanu Beach for an epic session with former Ironman World Champion Cory Hutchings. An awesome opportunity to learn from one of the best. Massive thanks to Cory for sharing his time and expertise.

Former TBC Water Polo legend Oli Hansen was also on hand, keeping a watchful eye and ready to rescue any swimmers who bit off more than they could chew πŸ˜„

Plenty of hard work going in both in and out of the pool as the squad gears up for the upcoming season. Big things ahead! πŸ€½β€β™‚οΈπŸ”₯
