The national secondary schools kapa haka competition, Tāwharau o Ngā Waka, was one of the biggest single events to be hosted at Mercury Baypark in Mount Maunganui for several years.

We're taking a look back at this massive event, held over five days in late June and early July, with 1,956 performers, 23,000 tickets sold, and 41 kapa haka rōpū represented from all around Aotearoa. On social media, there were more than 12.6 million views across social media platforms.

Zespri AIMS Games School Sporting Championships

HoopNation's Tauranga Classic is back this Labour Weekend (23-26 October)! 🏀

The Classic is Aotearoa's largest basketball event and Tauranga and Mt Maunganui are its home.

Teams from all over New Zealand and across the ditch from Australia will play four days of basketball across 22 divisions, from 12U grassroots right through to adult elite. Mercury Baypark Arena will host the headline games and every final on Labour Day Monday.

Spectator entry is free. Come for the basketball and stay for the rest of it: DJs and MCs courtside, food trucks all weekend, and the Slam Dunk Contest and 3-Point Shootout on Sunday night.
