One month ago we were sat on the banks of Mt Drury/Hopukiore Reserve at the 2026 NZ Schools Opening Ceremony.
What a special moment that was & we appreciate the performers, the readers of the Oath (Mark, Blake Ollie & Indie), & everyone that played a part in making this happen.
Sadly Thursday & Friday were ruined by weather, but many of you took on the challenges & made the most of the experience.
Now we look forward to the 2027 NZ Schools Triathlon & Aquathlon Champs to be hosted in the beautiful Tasman/Nelson region at Rabbit Island.
The Champs were last held here in 2018 & we can't wait to return to this awesome venue.
Once again the Champs will be held during Summer Tournament week. The event will take place from Wednesday March 17th to Friday March 19th 2027
We hope to see you all there.

If you need to prove it with photo's, you'll find them on the Simon Dawson Photography FB page.

Here is a bit of post event content to start the week off.
We do still have a number of goggles left from the Aquathlon. Let us know if you are missing your pair.
We also have had a request to find a missing wetsuit.
An Arena wetsuit has been picked up & taken & it may have someone elses name in it. Not yours !!!
Can you please check your wetsuit & let us know if it's not yours.

Please don't phone, message or write comments asking if the event will go ahead.
Any decision will be made once all LOC & Officials are onsite & have time to discuss any changes to the program.

Kia ora athletes, parents, and supporters,
Due to adverse weather conditions and a worsening surf forecast overnight, we have made the decision to adjust the course for tomorrowβs NZ Schools Triathlon to ensure the utmost safety of all participants, while still allowing everyone to compete in a full triathlon experience.
Whatβs changing:
The Triathlon and Aquathlon swim will now take place in Pilot Bay, where conditions are sheltered and calm.
The swim will be a point-to-point course, with the swim exit at the northern end of Pilot Bay.
Athletes will then complete an approximately 400m run to Transition 1 (T1), where their bikes will be located (all barefoot)
Transition 2 (T2) remains unchanged (important when riding from T1 to end of T2 it is a neutral/no passing zone)
This adjustment is critical to ensure athlete safety given the deteriorating surf conditions at the original swim location.
Important logistics:
T1 will only hold bikes for the race that is about to take place, there will be no allocated racks by race number
Announcements will be made throughout the morning advising when athletes need to meet at T2 and move their bikes to T1 ahead of their race.
We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we make these changes in the best interests of all athletes. Our priority is to provide a safe, enjoyable event for everyone involved.
Further updates and instructions will be communicated on the day. Please see schedule and maps with incorporated changes. We kindly ask that you do not email through questions this evening. Any queries can be raised on the morning of the event via your school coaches or sport coordinators, and we will address them there.
Thanks for your understanding,
Anna Russell

π¦οΈ As many of you will already know, the weather forecast is looking a bit average.
β οΈ As a contingency, we may need to use Pilot Bay, so we want to make everyone (public included) aware that a swim venue change is possible.
π« Mauao has a 30m exclusion zone in place, and the entire mountain is CLOSED.
π’ Any changes will be announced at least 1 hour before each race starts or cover ALL races prior to the 1st race starting.
π Thanks for your understanding and please keep an eye on our channels for updates.
