Congratulations to all our gymnasts who competed at the South Island Champs at the Southern Trust Events Centre here in Timaru over Father’s Day weekend. It was fantastic to have all our gymnasts competing in the same place on the same weekend, and to see them out on the floor giving their absolute best. It was also awesome to see the brilliant support they gave to each other, even when not competing! Shout out to our STEP 3’s who were an especially vocal and colourful cheer squad. While not all can make it to the podium, they all did themselves and their coaches proud! Congratulations to everyone and a big thank you, as always, to our coaches and judge. It was a huge weekend, so thank you all for your efforts. Below are the top placings from the weekend, along with the results of the Aorangi Medals and Fransch Trophy.

Two weeks ago, we once again co-hosted the South Island Artistic Gymnastics Championships with Waimate Gym Club. We could not help run this event again without the support of our club families and our generous sponsors.

We would like to give a big thank you to all our parents who generously donated to our canteen and judges catering. This enabled us to keep the canteen running throughout the weekend and provide catering for the the awesome judges who so generously give up their time.

We’d also like to give a huge shout-out to everyone who helped with pack-in and pack-out, and set-up at the stadium and gym, and to those who organised and ran the canteen and judges catering. We couldn’t have done it without you, and we truly appreciate all your hard work. Thank you!

We are holding another Quiz Night Fundraiser next Wednesday 23rd September to help fundraise to get the South Canterbury Gymsports Inc. members of the Aorangi Gymnastics Team (Emily Best, Emily Jenkin, Pypa Winter-Davis and Georgia Buckley) to Nationals in Tauranga this school holidays.

**This Weekend - South Island Artistic Gymnastics Championships - Saturday and Sunday (5th & 6th September)**..
Come along to the Southern Trust Events Centre this weekend to enjoy competition gymnastics and support our South Canterbury GymSports gymnasts at the South Island Artistic Gymnastics Championships. There will be gymnasts of all levels from all over the South Island competing over the weekend.

Please note, due to construction works at the stadium, entry will be at the temporary public entrance at the southern end and parking by the stadium will be limited.

Timetable and entry fees is below.

Remember there will be NO CLASSES ON MONDAY, as the gym will need to be put back together.

Congratulations to our WAG STEP 4 and 6 and MAG Level 4 gymnasts who competed at DGA over the weekend. Special mention to our STEP 4 Elsie for achieving her first ever 1st Overall placing. She managed this with a power cut at DGA that left them with no lights or heating for much of the session. Well done Elsie. Also well done to our Level 4 Camilo. It’s great to see his confidence improving and this is showing in his scores. Our STEP 6 Emily also did really well achieving placings both days, and was part of a combined team that placed 3rd. Huge thanks to our judge Maria and our coach Caitlin for making the trip to Dunedin for our WAG girls and big thanks to DGA for taking Camilo.
