πŸ”₯Ian Worner and Robertson Trophy πŸ”₯

What a great day at the turf yesterday for the Ian Worner and Robertson Trophy Mini Tournament. It was great to have Mid Canterbury Hockey and North Otago Hockey Association Under 13 and Under 16 teams come and battle it out on the turf.

The Robertson Trophy played between South Canterbury Under 13 and Under 16 teams was won by South Canterbury with a win in the Under 13 Girls game and a draw and a win in the Under 16 girl's games.

The Ian Worner Trophy played between South Canterbury Under 13 and Under 16 teams was won by South Canterbury with wins to the Under 13 Hurricanes and Strikers teams and also wins to the SC U16 Scorchers and Thunder teams.

With teams all finishing at different times during the day and the photographer flat out the U16 Diamonds took one for the team in the official photo with the Ian Worner and Robertson trophies.

A massive thanks to our hockey community who once again stepped up to umpire 14 games across the day. Thanks also to our North Otago and Mid Canterbury umpires. You all did a fantastic job πŸ‘

Great job everyone - an enjoyable day's hockey with our neighbouring associations πŸ’šπŸ–€

Congratulations to the Timaru Boys' High School 1st XI who finished their season on a high yesterday winning the Walker and Hall Shield.

In the morning game the North Otago Hockey Association senior men's champions Tainui Hockey Club took on the Mid Canterbury Hockey senior champions Tinwald with the winner going on to challenge for the Walker and Hall v Timaru Boys' High School.

Tinwald took that match 6-1 and by the time 3pm came around it was 24 degrees, no wind and it was boiling!

Playing their second game for the day didn't hold back the Tinwald Men who came out firing heading into the sheds at halftime 2-0 up. The second half the young fellas started to find their stride getting back in the game with a succession of goals eventually taking the game 5-2. Well done, Tinwald - a true gutsy effort on a hot South Canterbury Day!

Congratulations to the TBHS 1st XI - your 2026 Walker and Hall Champions πŸ‘

πŸ₯‰ How good does Bronze Look! πŸ₯‰

A huge congratulations to our Senior Mens team who have earnt the bronze medal in a tense encounter with Hawkes Bay this afternoon at the Ford National Hockey Championships in Wellington.

The lads as they have all week played calm, composed hockey getting their noses in front and hanging on for the W 3-1.

Well done lads, we are all very proud of your efforts all week. πŸ’šπŸ–€

Big thanks to Tim (Coach) and Susan (Manager) for all you have done for this team in the lead up and this week and to our players individual sponosors and Trust Aoraki Limited for their support of this team.

πŸ”₯ Top Four πŸ”₯

The South Canterbury Senior Men are through to the semifinals after a tight tussle with Auckland this evening in what can only be described as miserable conditions in Wellington!

With games delayed due to flooded turfs the lads had a bit of extra time to think about the game.

Auckland were first to score and the game become a goal for goal battle before the SC lads snuck ahead in the last 10 minutes scoring two unanswered goals to take the match 4-3.

Tomorrow, we face the Canterbury Beavers in the semifinal 2.45pm.

Get stuck in boys - good luck πŸ’šπŸ–€

πŸ“· too wet for photo so a team outing photo on the cable cars will do for tonight!
